as bad as the fires are, and most have been now proven to ave been sparked by either lightning or arson why dont they conduct pre-seasonal back-burns in California to avoid devastating issues like this? (even CNN talk about State burn-offs not being done).
not trying to blow my own trumpet here but here in Australia every State Govt is now conducting 'back-burns' to minimise the effects of the inevitable summer bushfires in a few months time.
