New York - 87028 infections, 5150 deaths - not one single recovery to date. The healthcare system in NYC must be absolutely swamped. Hats off to those looking after all these people. It must be a bloody nightmare.
My dear old mom sent me a text about a couple in SA who decided to go ahead with their wedding plans regardless of the lockdown. Apparently the cops arrived, arrested the bride and groom and chucked them in jail. Separate cells. So they did not even get to perform the Adam and Eve waltz on the appointed day. Now there's a wedding night to remember!
I hope that if and when this is all over the powers that be start taking notice of the work that is done by the people in the healthcare profession who do all the work. No, not the big pharma companies - not the private exclusive hotel hospitals for the wealthy - the ones who ACTUALLY deal with the situation. Nurses who are expected to live on a pittance while the corporate giants rake in the profits. And who have to put up with treatment from patients - the ones they are trying to help - that can only be described as despicable. There is something seriously wrong with society. Oh yes, how could I forget - it's called money.

as ive previously posted and Ruby also mentioned, wild animals are returning to areas they haven't been seen or heard in for years (decades), but now even a lot of Indians are now saying they can see the Himalayas clearly now pollution has dissipated.

some people who had C-19 in Sth Korea and recovered now appear to have been re-infected.
that was a preliminary unsubstantiated report on MSN.
if this is true that is a huge game changer for the worse!
we seem to be doing okay in Australia at the moment (in comparison to a lot of other countries per head of population)
6301 infections
3141 recoveries
56 deaths
only just over 500 infections here in West Australia with 6 deaths. (population around 3,000,000)
in comparison New York has approximately 7x the population but has 350x more infections and 1200x more deaths.
distance and a sparse population obviously has a lot to do with it as West Australia is about a third of the size of mainland US.
our infection curve has apparently plateaued out, im sure it will spike again by the middle of next week though with people defying Govt recommendations in regards to gatherings over the Easter holiday.

Yes I thought that might happen - scary shit. That's why a vaccine is so important. The virus is just going to continue to mutate. People need to understand that. Basic bottom line is that all these wildlife food markets should be shut down completely. If it means we give up meat, so be it. Even in countries like Ireland, where they claim to have 100% traceability in the meat industry (complete rubbish), they can't seem to prevent horsemeat from entering the food chain. It all comes down to money. Pure and simple. Cheaper meat = more profits.

a bit off subject but...
I did see somewhere earlier today that China has now officially outlawed the eating of canines (dogs not teeth LOL) and deemed them to be pets only.
the problem with this is that theres half a billion people living in villages in the middle of nowhere who will not hear of these laws or due to historical/cultural reasons will not stop the practice anyway..
but at least its a move in the right direction...
now, if they could only deal with the collection of bile from bears...
the castration of tigers and deer...
the removal of Rhino horns...
the removal of shark fins whilst still alive...
turning mice into wine...
slaughter of monkeys for their heads...
killing elephants for their skin to treat acne...
need I go on, no not really....

Please don't - it just sickens me. The human race is the most destructive force on the planet. It's time we realized we don't need that new handbag or that fancy new car. These things are just not important. Or necessary. And if we don't buy them then those companies will wake up and realise they had better change their tune. There are a hell of a lot of companies that are going to have to come to terms with the fact they produce expensive, useless rubbish.

Australia is recording on average 100 cases per day over the last seven days to flatten the curve.
people are jubilant but im a pessimist, I see a spike coming over the next week due to Easter simply because grandparents, aunts/uncles etc want to give the little ones their Easter eggs regardless...
