listen to "Black Saint and the Sinner Lady"and you'll immedately retract that statement

Jerome Wrote:Not really a big jazz fan but decided to listen to one of my more obscure CD's. Bought this in Venice while I was wandering around Italy. Specula & Gemini - Orchestra Jazz a Majella (Roberto De Simone & Bruno Tommaso)

Ok - I'll give it a whirl but I have to say that my jazz collection is very small, mostly standards with a couple of oddball ones here and there.

The real gem is not the concerto as such, but the jazz tracks with Katia Labeque - superb. A sample - http://youtu.be/P4bYtIBYARw
Not a great quality recording but you will get an idea of the material.

My Way carrys this one, but the pop covers are weak for me. Yesterday and Mrs. Robinson just don't work for Frank.
For Once In My Life does work, because of the horns I think, which is what ruins Mrs. Robinson. The man could do
whatever he wanted at that point. Most of the rest is standard Frank material. Four tracks I love and the two pop
tunes I do not like. Most Sinatra albums reach that love mark for me but this one falls a little short. Other than a
compilation, My Way alone would make this worth having. The definitive Frank and the one he will always be
remembered for. Even in the midst of the 60's hippie wave the album was a #11 hit but My Way only made it to #27.

I LIKE THIS ALBUM

Worst Track - Mrs. Robinson

Best Track - My Way

And now, the end is near;
And so I face the final curtain.
My friend, I'll say it clear,
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain.

I've lived a life that's full.
I've traveled each and ev'ry highway;
But more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Regrets, I've had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.

I planned each charted course;
Each careful step along the byway,
But more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew.
But through it all, when there was doubt,
I ate it up and spit it out.
I faced it all and I stood tall;
And did it my way.

I've loved, I've laughed and cried.
I've had my fill; my share of losing.
And now, as tears subside,
I find it all so amusing.

To think I did all that;
And may I say - not in a shy way,
"No, oh no not me,
I did it my way".

For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught.
To say the things he truly feels;
And not the words of one who kneels.
The record shows I took the blows -
And did it my way!
