my "singles" collection - CRAZY-HORSE - 03-01-2014 DAVID BOWIE "sorrow" b/w "amsterdam" 1973 six singles today prior to this one and all six are crap! can we make it seven in a row...no way! i love this Bowie song even if it is a cover,it beats the original hands down IMO... "b" side is a bit of a strange song, but thats what you sometime got with Bowie, either way i like that one also this single reached #1 here back in the day and rightfully so! "sorrow" *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LxDVc80Z3FI video "amsterdam" ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=153Abqg7_3I audio my "singles" collection - CRAZY-HORSE - 06-01-2014 ELO "midnight blue" b/w "the diary of horace wimp" 1979. both tracks come from their superb "discovery" album... "a" side is a smoldering ballad, i can really hear a lot of George Harrison in this track "b" side, well not really a "b" side because this charted a 'double-a-side' hit both here and in the UK... this side has all the hallmarks of Beatles circa 1967 all over it, the lyircs and wordplay are as good as their "a day in the life" track, sublime stuff IMO! single should have been a smash hit but only reached #48 here, i guess everyone who wanted this had got the album by time this, the fourth single from the album was released! "midnight blue" *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7airwrU95ho video "the diary of horace wimp" *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A30Bt29i5KM video my "singles" collection - CRAZY-HORSE - 06-01-2014 TOYAH "rebel run" b/w "to the mountain high" 1983 UK punk/new wave band similar to Siouxie And The Banshees... this was one of the last singles... i dont like either side of this whatsoever! single failed to chart here "rebel run" * http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3Xna15BjSk video "to the mountains high" * http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9B-AOToCHU audio my "singles" collection - CRAZY-HORSE - 06-01-2014 THE SELECTOR "celebrate the bullet" b/w "last tango in dub" 1981 not sure why or where i'd have got this one as ive never been a fan of this UK ska band... i dont like either side of this single at all! single failed to chart down this way "celebrate the bullet" * http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNMcXRbvVmc audio "last tango in dub" * http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_GsLpzWZ68 audio my "singles" collection - CRAZY-HORSE - 06-01-2014 DAVID BOWIE "space oddity" b/w "the man who sold the world" 1973 1973 re-issue of his 1969 hit... this "a" side is classic Bowie,it dont get much better than this IMO! "b" side, his original version of the hit by Lulu(which ive already posted in this thread), and probably better known amongst the younger generation as a Nirvana song(and very well covered also!) from their "unplugged" set... single reached #9 here "space oddity" *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xcyuKUtgyZ8 video "the man who sold the world" *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSH--SJKVQQ audio my "singles" collection - CRAZY-HORSE - 06-01-2014 LOUIS ARMSTRONG "what a wonderful world" b/w "game of love" 1988 a re-issue of two classic tracks, the "a" side by Loius, and the "b" side by Wayne fontana & The Mindbenders... both track were taken from the brilliant robin Williams movie "good morning vietnam"... the "a" side has got to be one of the most beautiful songs ever written IMO and Loius' vocals suit this perfectly... i defy anyone to say they dont like this song! single, upon reissue, went to #1 on our charts, yet in 1969 Louis' song only peaked at #22 here and Wayne's song peaked at #38, its amazing what a movie can to for a song! "b" side is a stupid instrumental piece, i mean, this is really bad...give me Knopfler's instrumentals anyday! single got what it deserved in the charts by scaling the charts to its peak position of #1 here "groovy kind of love" *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsC_SARyPzk video "big noise" * no link available |
