Chart action: #15 US, #9 Australia, #11 Canada

the players:
John Bonham – drums
John Paul Jones – bass guitar, electric piano, mandolin, acoustic guitar on "The Battle of Evermore"
Jimmy Page – acoustic and electric guitar, mandolin
Robert Plant – lead and backing vocals, tambourine, harmonica on "When the Levee Breaks"

Looks like this classic was not even released as a single in the UK. They got the title from a black dog roaming the studio grounds, but the
song is about sex. That's what Jimmy said.

Lyrics

Hey, hey, mama, said the way you move, gonna make you sweat, gonna make you groove.
Oh, oh, child, way you shake that thing, gonna make you burn, gonna make you sting.
Hey, hey, baby, when you walk that way, watch your honey drip, can't keep away.

Ah yeah, ah yeah, ah, ah, ah. Ah yeah, ah yeah, ah, ah, ah.
I gotta roll, can't stand still, got a flaming heart, can't get my fill
Eyes that shine burning red, dreams of you all through my head.
Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah.

Hey, baby, oh, baby, pretty baby, tell me that you'll do me now
Hey, baby, oh, baby, pretty baby, do me like you do me now
Didn't take too long 'fore I found out, what people mean by down and out.
Spent my money, took my car, started telling her friends she's gonna be a star.
I don't know but I been told, a big-legged woman ain't got no soul.

All I ask for when I pray, steady rollin' woman gonna come my way.
Need a woman gonna hold my hand, won't tell me no lies, make me a happy man.
Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah

My favourite Led Zep track after Kashmir. Wonderful stuff.

#300 - Al Green - Tired Of Being Alone - 1971

running recap for me - 3's=114, 2's=73, 1's=12
this one - **
from the album: Al Green Gets Next To You
Written by Al Green
Produced by Al Green, Willie Mitchell
Chart action: #11 US, #4 UK, #36 Canada

the players:
Al Green - vocal
other people playing things

Not one of my Al Green love tracks but it will do. From his third album which was before his biggest hits. This single went gold but the album
never did. Both did much better on the r&b charts. I see this was covered by a Scottish band named Texas in 1992, which made #19 in the UK.

Lyrics

I'm so tired of being alone
I'm so tired of on-my-own
Won't you help me girl
Just as soon as you can

People say that I've found a way
To make you say that you love me
Hey baby, you didn't go for that
It's a natural fact
That I wanna come back
Show me where it's at, baby

I'm so tired of being alone
I'm so tired of on-my-own
Won't you help me girl
Soon as you can

I guess you know that I, uh, I love you so
Even though you don't want me no more
Hey hey hey hey, I'm cryin' tears
All through the years
I'll tell ya like it is
Honey, love me if you will

Yeah baby
Tired of being alone here by myself, now
I tell ya, I'm tired baby
I'm tired of being all wrapped up late at night
In my dreams, nobody but you, baby
Sometimes I wonder
If you love me like you say you do
You see baby, I been thinkin' about it, yeah
I been, I been wantin' to get next to you baby
Ya see, sometimes I hold my arms, I say mmmm hmmm hmmm
Yeah baby
Meeting you has proven to me
To be my greatest dream, yeah

Tired, baby
Yeah, you don't know what I'm talkin' about
Sometimes late at night I get to wonderin' about you baby
Oh baby, baby
I'm so tired of being alone
I'm so tired of being alone
I'm so tired of being alone...

Looking Back At Some Classics - SteveO - 10-04-2014

this one is a bit obscure for me! I don't really remember it...but it's a very good ballad done in the impeccable style of Pastor Green!

Looking Back At Some Classics - armina - 18-04-2014

for me the best classic songs are by Lionel Richie. He is a great singer and so are his songs.....
