JAMES REYNE "motor's too fast" b/w "counting on me" 1988
umpteenth single from Reyne either as a soloist or with aussie band Australian Crawl...
its not his best, but the "a" side is still okay...
"b" side is okay also...
single reached #4 here(not bad for a guy who'd been around a decade or so in a fast changing music industry!

BELLE STARS "iko iko" b/w "las vegas" 1989
both sides of this single are taken from the soundtrack to the Hoffman/Cruise movie "rainman"...
love the movie,dislike Cruise and dislike both these songs now...
"a" side is a cover of an old New Orleans standard, "b" side is not by bells Stars but by someone called Hans Zimmer whom i have never heard of???

THE STEMS "tears me in two" b/w "cant resist" 1985
shortlived Aussie outfit who came from the same pub/club scene as Hoodoo Guru's...
similar type sounds happening here, but Hoodoo's made it big first and these guys were seen as riding on their coat-tails(which i disagree with!)
they were a talented bunch of guys but came along at the wrong time and in the wrong place!
i like bvoth these tracks on here,im sure SteveO will probably love them and MH also, ijust hope the video/links are available where you guys are!
single only peaked at #99 here, and thats a disgrace IMO

ex 10CC duo...
had a hige hit here with "an englishman in new york" a couple of years previously(and previously posted in this thread)...
that one has worn thin over the year, as has this one...
they seemed to be at the forefront of music back then with their sound/style, and maybe they were but it all seems old hat now!
i dont like either side of this single,yet it peaked at #43 here

this is nothing but pure shite, its these guys attepmting to out Pepper the Beatles, but as usual they ended up in second place!
there aint even a hint of Pepper genius here, just salt,and sea salt at that!
this single did however get to #4 here and #1 on the UK

i guess every country did their own charity record for Africa after the Geldof/Band Aid thing..
the US chimed in with "usa for africa" and here we had this one...
our one is worse than the US one!,
"b" side is pretty bad also considering Slim Dusty wrote that one,probably would have been better had he sung it though

BAND AID II "do they know its christmas?" b/w "instrumental version" 1989
and to follow on from the last single...this is a re-recording of Band Aid by another group of UK artists for xmas 1989...
this one just doesnt have the same spark as the original,it simply doesnt send the chills up the spine like Geldof's original...
single peaked at #11 here but did go back to #1 in the UK
