Not bad for pop fiction. Read this because the wife did. She liked it and so do I. Lawyer story (imagine that) set in Mississippi in the 1980's. Rich guy hangs himself and writes his revised will the day before, cutting out his kids. He leaves most of his 24 million to his black housekeeper who he has known for 3 years. No fair the kids say and contest it. The court battle is on. A little bit of a mystery involved as to why the man did this. Turns out the housekeepers grandfather was hung some years back by the father of the rich dude. And the rich dude hung himself on the same exact tree that the grandfather was strung up on. And it was on this strip of land called Sycamore Row. There, now you don't have to read it.

What Are You Reading ? - at first light - 03-08-2014
Currently I'm browsing through "Getting Started With VMware"; it's not a book though just a document for a computer program. I really don't really read books anymore; I was debating reading the dictionary. The main reasons I stopped reading were that when I was young my parents made me read for a bit each day, and you had to read at school too. It Kinda took the fun out of it for me so when I didn't have to anymore I stopped; sweet freedom! I Also had always found it was difficult to find books I liked from a writer that used comprehensible language. I ended up reading the same books multiple times
which got pretty boring. People read for different reasons for me I read if I want information, but when I want to relax I prefer to watch something. The last book I read was probably Henrik Ibsen's Hedda Gabbler, and before that The Twilight Saga? Now a days I mostly read posts, and articles online. The other day I stumbled upon some undiscovered personal blog that had a humorous post about the best places/practices for sleeping in public places, at school, and at work. Apparently the best place was some train in Thailand (I think it was Thailand?).

About the hatred built up over the years between Lyndon Johnson and Robert Kennedy. Starts with LBJ's rise to power in the Senate and the runup to the 1960 presidential election, when Lyndon was not Bobby's choice for VP. That was when the 2 men started to despise each other. Over the years the tempers flare. When LBJ ascended to the throne Bobby set out to unseat him. Pretty sure he would have accomplished that had events not done him in. He never got the chance to prove it, LBJ quit and Bobby bit the dust. I think Lyndon resigned because he knew he would be humiliated at the polls. The bitterness lasted till the end, as Lyndon wanted to deny the family's request that Bobby be laid to rest at Arlington National.

A loan from a neighbor who is a friend of the author. Civil War novel about an Alabama man who enlists to fight with the Yankees. Told from the view of his 14 year old daughter. The rebels call him a traitor and the Yankees view him with suspicion. Makes it hard on the family back home. Felt like I was reading a Little House On The Prairie book with all the Ma's and Pa's. Don't think this was meant to be a children's book but that's how it comes across. I actually enjoy reading children's classics but this is just not well written. Time to lie again and tell the neighbor how good it was.

I've been reading The Song of Fire and Ice series again. It's so detailed and has so many characters that it's easy to read again and enjoy. Always noticing new details. I also find myself so engrossed that I'm pleading in my head for the characters to not make the same mistakes they made last time lol
