my "singles" collection - CRAZY-HORSE - 02-01-2014 AC/DC "you shook me all night long" b/w "what do you do for your money, honey" 1980 i obviously knew who these guys were prior to 1980, but this "a" side was the first of their singles to make my ears prick up and take notice... this stuff on the "A" side is some of the best rock and roll you will ever hear, and the "back in black" album from which it came is quite probably the greatest so-called 'hard-rock album ever released, great stuff indeed "b" side isnt as good, but its still not bad neither... single peaked at #8 here "you shook me all night long" *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lo2qQmj0_h4 vevo video "what do you do for your money, honey" ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iF26wKF-_M video my "singles" collection - SteveO - 02-01-2014 A monster track Shook Me is and ACDC are a monster band!!!! my "singles" collection - CRAZY-HORSE - 03-01-2014 ADAM & THE ANTS "antmusic" b/w "fall-in" 1980 the Ants' breakthrough single even though they released several others and an album prior to this one... these guys were totally unique back in the day, no-one sounded like them, plus the fact they had two drummers in the band, giving them their great drum sounds... i love the "a" side, it still stands up very well(looking foreward to watching the video shortly!).. "b" side isnt much chop(like most of their other b-sides) single did here what it did in their homeland(uk)...it reached #1 "antmusic" *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rm9drIwmmU4 vevo video "fall-in" * no link available here my "singles" collection - CRAZY-HORSE - 03-01-2014 THE ROMANTICS "what i like about you" b/w "first in line" 1979 one hit wonders group here... but at least with that tag this "a" side is a classic song from that period... "b" side is a piece of crap, which makes sense them being one hit wonders! single peaked at #2 here, but deserved to reach the top "what i like about you" *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYT4g0CW5O0 video "first in line" * http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWirY-iRkhE audio my "singles" collection - CRAZY-HORSE - 03-01-2014 ARCADIA "election day" b/w "she's moody and she's grey" 1985 Arcadia were a side project for members of Duran Duran... i dont like either side of this single but the buying public did with this reaching top10 in both US/UK but here it peaked at #13 "election day" * http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPlGshbbjG4 video "shes moody and shes grey" * no link available this end! my "singles" collection - CRAZY-HORSE - 03-01-2014 BANGLES "going down to liverpool" b/w "dover beach" 1984 their first single releas down here, a full year prior to them going all egyption on us... both sides of this disc have their radio friendly sounds but it failed to chart here "going down to liverpool" ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xzc-LORwSHI video "dover beach" ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHiU5o1mreI audio my "singles" collection - CRAZY-HORSE - 03-01-2014 BAND AID "do they know its christmas?" b/w "feed the world" 1984 the bob geldof/Midge Ure brain-storm that lead to the whole 'live aid' thing a couplf of years after this.. Bob/Midge got all the UK artists on this one to the studio overnight, they recorded it in 12hrs and had it in the stores 36hrs later... amazing stuff!, they managed to get the likes of McCartney,Status Quo and the then modern stars including Boy George,George Michael,Bono,Sting,Weller,Paul Young etc etc all at the same time in the same location... this single was also the start of the end for Thatcher and her Government as even though everyone gave their time, recording plants and studio to make this happen, She still took her taxes from sales against public opinion...what a bit#h! this is one of the greatest Xmas type songs of all time IMO,up there with the same feel and emotion that Lennon's "happy xmas" has. "b" side contains 'greetings' messages from some of the artists who appear on the "a" side single reached #1 both here and in the UK where it sold inexcess of 1million copies in its first week there and eventually selling over 3million over the xmas period! "do they know its christmas?" *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYDEh-mhijc video "feed the world" ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Njt33q27u90 audio this "a" side is my hand picked track for you guys to listen to today! my "singles" collection - CRAZY-HORSE - 03-01-2014 SHAKIN' STEVENS "lipstick, powder and paint" b/w "i'll give you my heart" 1985 as you guys must be aware by now...im a huge fan of Shaky even though he did do a lot of covers, but he did them authentically and honest, and basically opened up the whole 1950s rock thing to a younger generation of music lovers... "a" side is a cover, but i cannot recall who originally sung it,either way, he does a good version of it "b" side is a self composed track which isnt too bad neither single made it into the UK top10 but failed to chart here "lipstick, powder and paint" ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4SQvwtsqnE vevo video "i'll give you my heart" ** no link available my "singles" collection - CRAZY-HORSE - 03-01-2014 QUEEN "body language" b/w "life is real(song for lennon)" 1982 to be fair... i never liked this "a" side, i only bought this one because of the John Lennon tribute on the "b" side... "a" side is Queen at their worst 1980s synth crap from their equally abysmal 'hot space' album.. "b" side is pretty much piano based with Freddy vocals, song has a distinct Lennon feel to it also, i still like this one single only reached #23 here "body language" * http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2EDkv_dyeI video "life is real(song for lennon)" ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4AY9N04K5m4 audio my "singles" collection - CRAZY-HORSE - 03-01-2014 JET "shine on" b/w "eleanor" 2006 the first of two 7" versions of this, their third single from the album of the same name... this one is a picture disc... "a" side is a piano ballad written following a death in their family, its beautiful! "b" side, well, the single is sealed so my first listen will be in a few minutes on youtube... single only reached #54 here "shine on" ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwEj-6tWqtM audio "eleanor" ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlfLVQ0tjqg audio |
