Looking Back At Some Classics - SteveO - 27-01-2014 One of the vanguard songs of the new wave craze...like it! Looking Back At Some Classics - CRAZY-HORSE - 28-01-2014 sorry but Blondie gets * from me, i was never a fan, and nothing has changed my mind about those guys(and gal) Looking Back At Some Classics - KnarfRethcaw - 28-01-2014 Blondie seems to be played from stereos in public places like roller rinks and pool halls...played through a jukebox with really flashy lights and modern fonts smeared throughout its exterior. The woman who played it can be found at the bar, drinking an obvious choice of cheap whitish-yellow beer with a thrice divorced hairstyle. Then you look again and realize the lady, in a certain light, looks a little like Debra Harry. She used to be hot though. Great in Videodrome. Looking Back At Some Classics - Music Head - 08-02-2014 #304 - Prince - Sign 'O' The Times - 1987 running recap for me - 3's=111, 2's=71, 1's=12 this one - * from the album: Sign 'O' The Times Written by Prince Produced by Prince Chart action: #3 US Don't know what zone I was in when this was out. I have no memory of it and it was a #3 hit. I know now that I do not like it. This song is the title track for the album. It is a holdover from sessions that were done before the Revolution was scrapped. I can't even imagine this being a single. This is the first song on this list that there is not a youtube clip for. I listened to it on Spotify, which is what you'll have to do if you want to hear it. Lyrics Oh yeah In France a skinny man Died of a big disease with a little name By chance his girlfriend came across a needle And soon she did the same At home there are seventeen-year-old boys And their idea of fun Is being in a gang called The Disciples High on crack, totin' a machine gun Time, time Hurricane Annie ripped the ceiling of a church And killed everyone inside U turn on the telly and every other story Is tellin' U somebody died Sister killed her baby cuz she couldn't afford 2 feed it And we're sending people 2 the moon In September my cousin tried reefer 4 the very first time Now he's doing horse, it's June Times, times It's silly, no? When a rocket ship explodes And everybody still wants 2 fly Some say a man ain't happy Unless a man truly dies Oh why Time, time Baby make a speech, Star Wars fly Neighbors just shine it on But if a night falls and a bomb falls Will anybody see the dawn Time, times It's silly, no? When a rocket blows up And everybody still wants 2 fly Some say a man ain't happy, truly Until a man truly dies Oh why, oh why, Sign O the Times Time, time Sign O the Times mess with your mind Hurry before it's 2 late Let's fall in love, get married, have a baby We'll call him Nate... if it's a boy Time, time Time, time Looking Back At Some Classics - CRAZY-HORSE - 09-02-2014 im a fan of Prince's singles, but like you,not keen on this one * Looking Back At Some Classics - Music Head - 09-02-2014 CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:im a fan of Prince's singles, but like you,not keen on this one *so do you remember that song? Looking Back At Some Classics - CRAZY-HORSE - 09-02-2014 yeh i do, i have the "sign o the times" album on vinyl, also remember it being a big radio hit here... Looking Back At Some Classics - Mrrusty1 - 10-02-2014 there is so much to choose from here with the stones although I would generally go for the 60s and early 70s songs Music Head Wrote:Thought I would start this thread so we can have a look back at the tunes that make up Rolling Stones 500 Greatest Songs Of All Time. Looking Back At Some Classics - Music Head - 16-02-2014 #303 - Neil Young - Heart Of Gold - 1972 running recap for me - 3's=112, 2's=71, 1's=12 this one - *** from the album: Harvest Written by Neil Young Produced by Neil Young, Elliot Mazer Chart action: #1 US, #1 Canada, #10 UK the players: Neil Young: Lead vocals, Acoustic guitar, Harmonica James Taylor: Backing vocals Linda Ronstadt: Backing Vocals. Ben Keith: Pedal steel guitar Tim Drummond: Bass Kenny Buttrey: Drums Teddy Irwin: Guitar Neil's only #1 song in the US. He was in Nashville to appear on Johnny Cash's show when he decided to cut a collection of mellow tracks. After suffering a slipped disc Neil had trouble standing and holding an electric guitar so he resorted to the acoustic where he could sit down and play. We get the barely audible backup vocals of James Taylor and Linda Ronstadt. Doesn't stop me from loving it, but there's sure not much there in the way of lyrics. Lyrics I want to live, I want to give I've been a miner for a heart of gold. It's these expressions I never give That keep me searching for a heart of gold And I'm getting old. Keeps me searching for a heart of gold And I'm getting old. I've been to Hollywood I've been to Redwood I crossed the ocean for a heart of gold I've been in my mind, it's such a fine line That keeps me searching for a heart of gold And I'm getting old. Keeps me searching for a heart of gold And I'm getting old. Keep me searching for a heart of gold You keep me searching for a heart of gold And I'm growing old. I've been a miner for a heart of gold. |
