I agree mate...damn fine song!

I've often wondered why he never had at least one more hit, strange indeed?

But I guess he still makes an income off that one hit all these decades later...

I think I mentioned before that I used to work with one of the guys who wrote 'black is black', when I last saw him back around '94 he still got royalty cheques worth around 30K from that one song each year.

Happy Birthday to Joe Walsh of mostly Eagles fame, although he had a significant spell with The James Gang prior to that and has also released a noteworthy 12 solo albums. He is 68 today. Of interest to CH, perhaps – in 1975, Mr Marriott invited him to join Humble Pie after Peter Frampton had left; he declined and joined the Eagles instead. I can just imagine you shaking your head in bewilderment! Lol!!

He’s collaborated with many and varied other musos and had a very busy and exciting social life, but has remained married to his fifth wife for a whole seven years, and is, by all accounts, a reformed, but hopefully still colourful character. Apparently he’s writing a memoir about which he said “I thought for a while I could actually make more money from people paying me to NOT be in the book, but I guess I'll go ahead and write it anyway."

He co-wrote “Life in the Fast Lane” which is on Hotel California – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04176XP9Ij0

As part of the touring band The Best, comprising Keith Emerson, Simon Phillips, John Entwistle, Jeff Baxter and Rick Livingston – they only released a DVD so this is pretty much just for fun, and Entwistle’s bass – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTEmldzx1xE

and from 1978’s 'solo' (which actually had ALL of the other Eagles on it, and more besides!), But Seriously, Folks –

1940: Dr.John
New Orleans born and raised...
primarily an r+b musician but he infuses jazz, blues, funk, Cajun sounds in his music....
I difficult artist to like because of his everchanging music IMO...
but I like some of his material....
here's probably his best known track:

Livingston Taylor was born on this day in 1950, in Boston, Massachusetts. He’s James’ baby brother. I have to confess I’d never heard of him or listened to any of his material up until now. I chose to listen to his second album, Liv (which very much brings Jim Croce to mind) and his most recent release, Last Alaska Moon, which has none other than Steven Gadd, Leland Sklar and Chris Rodriguez making up the core of his band. According to wiki, Liv was an artist-in-residence at Harvard College from 2000 till 2006 and is now a full professor at Berklee College of Music teaching stage performance. You learn something new every day! This is a good thing. He puts me in mind of Marc Cohn, in a way, as a vague frame of reference … great songwriter.

The title track from the same album – solo acoustic version – can’t find any other clips on YT - ttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FEFl63ls-2Q

Lastly, Liv likes to fly and this is yet another from LAM – “Kitty Hawk”, in honour of the Wright brothers - I love it!
