Neil Young - Harvest - which I believe to be his best album. Every track on this is just magnificent. Lovely to listen to this again - really takes me back to 'teenage-hood'.

another from my ex-work colleague's set he gave me.
i own "melt" and "security" on cd and "so" on vinyl so this is a good accompanyment to those.
a double disk set.
not a huge fan of live albums unless the performance is outstanding and this one is.

Thank all the gods for Shawn Phillips. Transcendence – not many could get away with choosing an album title of that name, but yes – that is exactly what it is. Gorgeous, and very much needed at the end of this week! Thank you yet again Jeromeski! Big Grin

Just some useless information about 'Transcendence' mentioned a couple of posts above. The artwork was inspired by an incident when Shawn Phillips had really long hair and this became tangled up in the propeller of a small boat. His hair was pulled out at the roots. So the cover is a long-haired 'angel' with his hand on the shoulder of Phillips with much shorter hair. You will also notice the water in the background and the tree with branches like hair strands. All of these elements refer to the boating accident.

LOU REED  "New York"  cd, 1989.

his fifteenth solo album, 
my first and favourite.
his most commercial sounding album
good place to start with him and dont go any further in my experience.
lyrically, the guy is just about in Dylan/Sprinsteen's league,
so observant of life and its trivialities and makes them sound interesting.
has an edge to the sound here.
his best by a country mile IMO
