RE: What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 23-09-2020 Tonight it's Bruce Springsteen's 'The Ghost of Tom Joad'. Not his most popular album by a long shot but it is his artistic zenith in my opinion. This is bone-chilling songwriting. Emotions laid bare. Spectacular body of work that is highly underrated. I have a number of his albums but this is the only one I really listen to. I play 'Devils and Dust' from time to time but nothing comes close to this. RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 23-09-2020 ^^ it took me a long, long time to enjoy that album but when i did... hey MH, do you have that album or had you given up on him by then?? if you do have it, what did you think of it? RE: What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 24-09-2020 ^^ never gave up on Bruce actually Joad is the last one I bought but I only quit because of the 7 year gap after it just moved on I guess love the album plus Nebraska RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 24-09-2020 cool dude... Nebraska would probably be my favourite of his. in case you missed my post from last week, he has another album coming out next month, not keen on the single but he certainly deserves the respect of listening because, well, he is The Boss. RE: What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 25-09-2020 Camel - Nude. My favourite in their repertoire. The musical interpretation of Hiroo Onoda who got stranded on a island in the Philippines during WWII for 29 years believing the war was still going on. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hiroo_Onoda This track is about when he is first called up to serve in the military - 'Drafted'. Love the opening to this track with the cello weaving in and out and then comes THAT guitar sound - and the ending is a repeat of the original guitar motif but just more effective. Superb work from Mr. Latimer and Co. Play it LOUD - https://youtu.be/EFbwUEo1zyo RE: What Are You Listening To? - Ruby - 25-09-2020 ^Fantastic album. I have continued with my APP listening so have Eve and The Turn of a Friendly Card tucked under my belt this week. Of the two, the cautionary tale wins. The first time Eric Woolfson took lead on a couple of tracks. Also the first time I noticed that Kevin Godley and Lol Creme of 10cc were responsible for the artwork. Huh! Ian Bairnson may be criminally unsung - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jT0cKjDACIY. Today - it was back to a perennial favourite - On the Threshold of a Dream - The Moody Blues ... the album of theirs I like most ... stands up well after 51 years!! RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 28-09-2020 THE BEATLES "1" cd, 2000 second selection from Dani's daughter... well, she wanted a "singles" album not a studio album, so i chose this one of the three i own... the band's biggest seller clocking in at close to 40 million sales. 27 tracks, all #1 hits in either UK or US. I LOVE THIS ALBUM Dani's daughter chose this as her favourite track: my pick is this often overlooked gem from their arsenal. RE: What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 04-10-2020 Camel - Harbour of Tears. One of theirs that I seldom listen to but it has some great stuff going on. Got this on in the car at the moment. This album always struck me as being incomplete in some way or maybe disjointed. It does not have the 'completeness' (is that even a word?) that their other albums have. It has great pieces but they don't seem to go together???? (15-09-2020, 12:49)Ruby Wrote: I Robot today ... RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 06-10-2020 ![]() THE SWEET "greatest hits" cd, 2005 Glam Rock. everyone knows Blockbuster, Ballroom Blitz, Fox On The Run, Loe Is Like Oxygen. but my favourite wasnt any of them. love about a third of the album, liking most of the remiander. I LIKE THIS ALBUM. favourite: RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 07-10-2020 CHRIS REA "dancing with strangers" cd, 1987. his nineth studio set. his first top 10 charting album in AU/UK, didnt even chart in America (stupid yankees!) "lets dance" was th biggie from the album and still gets decent rotation airplay here to this day. as with the other half dozen albums of his i own i love the majority of tracks on the album. I LOVE THIS ALBUM favourite wasnt even released as a single: |
