What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 16-07-2013 ![]() JOHN FOGERTY & THE BLUE RIDGE RANGERS "rides again" cd, 2009 John and the Rangers released their debut(and previously only other album) in 1973... this one is along the same lines....country covers! there is one self penned track on here, "change in the weather", which isnt too bad, same as the rest of the album, bar that stupid "haunted house" song, which i disliked when i first heard the original by Jumpin' Gene Simmons(not sure, but i think i read somewhere once that he is the same Simmons who found fame with KISS, but i could be wrong?)... all up not a bad collection of covers...things like "garden party","when will i be loved","moody river" and "paradise" actually do suit Fogerty's gentler side quite well, but they are covers and none get a love score from me, just eleven likes and one dislike!, overall score 1.9 from the album "when willi be loved", duet with Springsteen! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYVzqi0kPKM audio "change in the weather" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAYgj6CoPeg audio What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 20-07-2013 ![]() LONNIE DONEGAN "king of skiffle" cd, 1994 Lonnie Donegan was to early british rock and roll as was Sun Records was to American rock and roll....he started it over there...! his music is often called "skiffle", which is really a blend of folk, country, rock, blues, bluegrass i guess...bits of vaudeville and humour are also thrown in for good measure....Lonnie was the UK's most successful artist until the Beatles emerged, and was also the first UK srtist to have two top10 singles in the US... he is also regarded in the UK as the second most influential UK artist of all-time, influencing the careers of Beatles,Brian May,Roger Daltry,Mark Knopfler,Van Morrison to name a few....this is where UK rock and roll comes from and this is a superb collection of tracks from between the years 1955 and 1960, Lonnie had 24 consecutive top10 hits in the UK during this period including 5 #1's... the album score 11 3s and 8 2s from me giving a score of 2.6 three links from the album below are my three favourite Lonnie Donegan tracks cumberland gap http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWA997xM9MI live michael row the boat ashore http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsIWfMy6DOo audio gamblin' man http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fabnrNwbwMA live What Are You Listening To? - Lovely Linda - 25-07-2013 _Time for some "Outlaw" mile:

Seems like the same side as his first three albums to me. I guess it was due to less protest songs. When I was going through my Dylan cd's for posting a while back, I found out I was missing a few. Ordered this one for $5 and I believe there are still 3 to go to make it complete. I'll get there. This album was recorded in one day. The first and last track I also love by Sonny & Cher and the Turtles. It reached #43 here and #8 in the UK. I LOVE THIS ALBUM Worst Track - Black Crow Blues Best Track - Chimes Of Freedom 1) All I Really Want To Do *** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBO9KKMoCgI 2) Black Crow Blues ** 3) Spanish Harlem Incident *** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CqjpRQoyLrA 4) Chimes Of Freedom *** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rkkA-iyOd3c 5) I Shall Be Free No. 10 ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQRvXIP3HDI 6) To Ramona *** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Xqk_fjncOI 7) Motorpsycho Nitemare ** 8) My Back Pages *** audio- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMea-eGmd8c 9) I Don't Believe You ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHwlLAT3Qvw 10) Ballad In Plain D *** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5ArelOx4Gw 11) It Ain't Me Babe *** 3's - 7 2's - 4 1's - 0 Grade - 2.6 of 3.0 allmusic - 3.0 of 3.0 What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 29-07-2013 Faces - Shawn Phillips. A work of art -period. And here's a link to a magnificent track from 'Transcendence' - exquisite - http://youtu.be/-sbmXQ796PY What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 31-07-2013 ![]() GUY MITCHELL "the essential collection" cd, 2007 i guess Guy could either be classed a crooner, pop or a country singer...the lines are blurred sometimes??? one of my dad's favourite singers from back in his day with "rock-a-billy" one of his favourite tracks ever!!! im not too keen on his crooner type material, much prefer his upbeat tunes, thus there are six tracks i dont like out of the eighteen on offer... "singing the blues" would have to be in my top20 of all time regardless of who sings it, its just one of those great songs IMO. anyway, this collection is a mix of "a" and "b" sides from the period 1950 thru 1960... i like it, and the score for this one comes out at 2.0...below are a few of my favourite tracks from the album "feet up" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jHAQfe5hfA audio "she wears red feathers" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zqzvc7iyDg live "pretty little black eyed suzie" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GDQyoqt6IY audio "chicka boom" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5TkaCyyZck audio "singing the blues" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVXOMnurFkQ live "roack-a-billy" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Yw7DH-2dpw audio "heartaches by the number" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R70zodIzQUo audio What Are You Listening To? - SteveO - 31-07-2013 all the songs are good...I especially like Heartaches by the number, sindin the blues and rock a billy!
