A bit disappointed with this. Had not heard of him before but saw his association with Bright Eyes and Conor Oberst as drummer so I gave it a try. This is his debut as a solo act. A little too socal laid back for my current mood I guess. A few promising tracks that I'm sure would grow on me, but overall I couldn't get into it. Hardly nothing available for clips.

Sometimes known as Final Fantasy, a tribute to the video game. Canadian one man violinist band. With a background in the classical field, he is attempting to transform that base into another dimension I would say. He has helped write arrangements for Arcade Fire. Interesting to watch as he creates all these sounds as he performs, then plays them back as he adds to them. I guess there's some technical term for the process, but I'm not up on all that. I just listen. I like weird but this is a little too out there for me.

My first must buy of the year. I have heard these guys before but I don't remember anything this impressive. Album eight and I may have some back tracking to do. I guess the only permanent member is Mark Everett with some rotating band members. He goes by E, which I just found out, I have the album A Man Called E Which I didn't know was this guy till now. Always learning. Already two singles off of here, Little Bird and A Line In The Dirt which is my favorite, although a few tracks compete for that. A couple of throw aways listed as tracks of just talking (Apple Trees) and rain (High and Lonesome). Thanks for that waste of time. I did not grade those. Just an outstanding album.

Debut album from British ska band. Only lasted for 2 albums in the original lineup. Reformed in 1994 but fizzled out. This album was a top 5 hit in the homeland but not so much in the states. Pauline Black (love her energy) had most of the lead vocal chores who later went on to an acting career.

Texas band formed in 1994. Up to their 7th album, each one with slightly better success than the previous. Early comparisons were with Sonic Youth and the Pixies. Sacred ground there. Can't vouch for that. Nothing close to that now. First single is Got Nuffin which is very good but Written In Reverse got my vote, which there is an excellent live clip for. The other live clips ain't that great.

lol. Saw this cover/title, thought for sure it was some soundtrack to a kids movie. Minnesota band formed in 1997, 2 remaining members. First release for new label Columbia, and 4th overall. Mark Hoppus of Blink-182 has production chores and those ties are obvious, having toured together. He also worked with them on their second album. I do hear some Fall Out Boy/My Chemical Romance/Weezer. Disappear is the first single, released in November. The album is said to more poppish than their earlier releases, which I haven't heard.
