RE: What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 19-07-2020 I am normally not in favour of covers of classic songs - here's an exception to the rule. https://youtu.be/6sCEbFRQaIc RE: What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 24-07-2020 Art Garfunkel - Everything Waits To Be Noticed. An album that should be in every CD collection. One of my favourite tracks from the album https://youtu.be/MD1_9hOEevM RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 26-07-2020 PAUL McCARTNEY & WINGS "band on the run" vinyl/cd/ deluxe cd 1974 one from the road trip. their third, Macca's fifth post Beatle album. its sometimes easy to forget just how good an album is until you revisit it, yes i know its a classic but had forgotten just how great it truly was. has everything on it that defines McCartney as an artist. i still believe that for me he has released several better albums but thats my opinion. anyway, a great 'driving record'. I LOVE THIS ALBUM lets post something other than the stock standard selections for a change: RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 27-07-2020 DIRE STRAITS "brothers in arms" vinyl,cd 1985 road trip disc. yup, this one suits playing on an open road especially the uptempo first half. completes a trilogy of perfect albums for the band (making movies, love over gold, bothers in arms). again, love just about everything on here, their most radio friendly album, most commercially successful also selling some 30 million copies. I LOVE THIS ALBUM picking one of the non singles to post this time round: RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 28-07-2020 Meat Loaf "bat out of hell II: back into hell" cd, 1993 road trip album: six of twelve for Meat. i own all twelve, a big fan. a return to the association with Jim Steinman. pretty much love most of this. liking the rest that i dont love album sold an impressive 15 million copies. I LOVE THIS ALBUM: lead off single, album version is 12 minutes, the single version 7. RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 28-07-2020 DAVID BOWIE "best of bowie" cd, 2002 road trip selection. 2cd, 39 track compilation all in chronological order. yeah Bowie is great driving music. easy to forget just how eclectic he was, continually changing his sound yet still sounding like David Bowie throughout. I LOVE THIS ALBUM hard to just pick one solitary track but here goes: RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 29-07-2020 ![]() CCR "best of" cd. 2009 road trip listen the best driving music ever IMO. cant go past CCR on any level,. over a period of five years they made seven albums and released almost thirty singles, all classics. as consistently brilliant as Lennon/McCartney but not as eclectic, but what they lack in being revolutionary they sure made up for it with straightforward foot stomping rock and roll. I LOVE THIS ALBUM. lets post one that normally gets overlooked. RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 29-07-2020 ![]() COLD CHISEL "chisel: the best of cold chisel" cd, 1991 last of the road trip albums. Aussie blues rock/rock/pub rock band. like CCR, a perfect driving album/band IMO. 18 track compilation. these dudes were bigger than AC/DC in Australia back in the day as both a recording band and a live act. shame they never really got noticed anywhere but here and Scotland. love the band and... I LOVE THE ALBUM live version of their tribute to the Nam vets: I left my heart to the sappers round Khe Sanh And the soul was sold with my cigarettes to the black market man I've had the Vietnam cold turkey From the ocean to the Silver City And it's only other vets could understand. About the long forgotten dockside guarantees How there were no V-day heroes in nineteen seventhy-three How we sailed into Sydney Harbor Saw an old friend but couldn't kiss her She was lined, and I was home to the lucky land. And she was like so many more from that time on Their lives were all so empty, till they found their chosen one And their legs were often open But their minds were always closed And their hearts were held in fast suburban chains And the legal pads were yellow, hours long, pay packet lean And the telex writers clattered where the gunships once had been Car parks made me jumpy And I never stopped the dreams Or the growing need for speed and Novocaine. So I worked across the country end to end Tried to find a place to settle down, where my mixed up life could mend Held a job on an oil-rig Flying choppers when I could Oh but the nightlife nearly drove me round the bend. And I've traveled round the world from year to year And each one found me aimless, one more year the more for wear And I've been back to South East Asia But the answer sure ain't there But I'm drifting north, to check things out again, yeah I am. Well the last plane out of Sydney's almost gone And only seven flying hours, and I'll be landing in Hong Kong There ain't nothing like the kisses From a jaded Chinese princess I'm gonna hit some Hong Kong mattress all night long. Well the last plane out of Sydney's almost gone You know the last plane out of Sydney's almost gone And it's really got me worried I'm goin' nowhere and I'm in a hurry And the last plane out of Sydney's almost gone RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 29-07-2020 BOB DYLAN "hard rain" cd, 1976. was actually under the impression this was a studio album, its not, its live... and as we all know Dylan is abysmal live during a good show. that said, this isnt too bad for a selection of live Dylan tracks. all up though... I LIKE THIS ALBUM my favorite from the album another set of masterpiece lyrics from Mr.D 'Twas in another lifetime, one of toil and blood When blackness was a virtue the road was full of mud I came in from the wilderness, a creature void of form Come in, she said I'll give ya shelter from the storm. And if I pass this way again, you can rest assured I'll always do my best for her, on that I give my word In a world of steel-eyed death, and men who are fighting to be warm Come in, she said I'll give ya shelter from the storm. Not a word was spoke between us, there was little risk involved Everything up to that point had been left unresolved Try imagining a place where it's always safe and warm Come in, she said I'll give ya shelter from the storm. I was burned out from exhaustion, buried in the hail Poisoned in the bushes an' blown out on the trail Hunted like a crocodile, ravaged in the corn Come in, she said I'll give ya shelter from the storm. Suddenly I turned around and she was standin' there With silver bracelets on her wrists and flowers in her hair She walked up to me so gracefully and took my crown of thorns Come in, she said I'll give ya shelter from the storm. Now there's a wall between us, somethin' there's been lost I took too much for granted, I got my signals crossed Just to think that it all began on an uneventful morn Come in, she said I'll give ya shelter from the storm. Well, the deputy walks on hard nails and the preacher rides a mount But nothing really matters much, it's doom alone that counts And the one-eyed undertaker, he blows a futile horn Come in, she said I'll give ya shelter from the storm. I've heard newborn babies wailin' like a mournin' dove And old men with broken teeth stranded without love Do I understand your question, man, is it hopeless and forlorn Come in, she said I'll give ya shelter from the storm. In a little hilltop village, they gambled for my clothes I bargained for salvation and she gave me a lethal dose I offered up my innocence I got repaid with scorn Come in, she said I'll give ya shelter from the storm. Well, I'm livin' in a foreign country but I'm bound to cross the line Beauty walks a razor's edge, someday I'll make it mine If I could only turn back the clock to when God and her were born Come in, she said I'll give ya shelter from the storm RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 30-07-2020 PAVLOV'S DOG "pampered menial" cd, 1975. their debut. only own this and the follow up "at the sound of the bell". for some reason i really like the second album but dislike this one, starts off fine but goes downhill fast IMO I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM lead off single and favorite track: |
