Politics - Lovely Linda - 14-10-2015 LMD Wrote:(Specific Post: http://www.music-discussion.com/showthread.php/14885-Politics?p=118322&viewfull=1#post118322) Yes. The Second Amendment (Amendment II) to the United States Constitution protects the right of the people to keep and bear arms and was adopted on December 15, 1791, as part of the first ten amendments contained in the Bill of Rights Politics - Music Head - 14-10-2015 Lovely Linda Wrote:Curious, who won the Democratic Debate?watching it now recorded on too late for me never can say who won, on either side whoever gets the most face time wins my choice would be Jim Webb Politics - Jerome - 15-10-2015 Lovely Linda Wrote:Yes. That law, which was no doubt relevant in 1791, has no place in 2015. Either America wakes up to the fact that the gun laws, which used to serve the community, are now a detriment to society - or not. If not - accept the consequences. It's that simple. The NRA probably has controlling interest in the company that manufactures body bags. America is teetering on the brink. I wish it wasn't, but it is. It is being crushed under the weight of it's own legislation. The solution - change the legislation. The solution - change the legislation.not trying to push any buttons here which law do we change? there are no doubt thousands of them when you include state and federal and what do you do about the 300 million guns that are out there? door to door collection and house searches? it is already against the law to kill people for no reason that doesn't stop it from happening people think that if you just pass a law everybody will obey it the NRA has as much right to lobby as any other organization about time for jazz to come in again and tell me how stupid I am Politics - Jerome - 15-10-2015 Not trying to pick a fight MH - just think the status quo has to change or the end results never will. Maybe all the states should get together and decide the best way forward. Not an easy thing to do I am sure but at the moment no-one is doing anything. Like I said, if the citizens of the United States believe they have the right to bear arms then that same rule applies to the nutters as well. Maybe there should be an age limit??? That would reduce the amount of killings by a significant amount already. I don't have the solution, but at the same time if something is not done it is just going to get worse. I have never been to the US but a mate of mine just returned from a holiday in Frisco, and as it happens he was staying with a cop friend of his who told him 10 or 20 shootings a week in Oakland was not unusual??!!?? In the UK they had a gun amnesty - if you turned in an illegal firearm - you were OK. The crime rate actually went up after this, including gun crime. BUT - when they said - OK you have had your chance to redeem yourself - now the law is going to get tough on people found possessing arms - the gun crime rate plummeted, because now the two-faced lawyers could not protect them anymore. As for the 300 million guns that are out there - I don't know - maybe offer them a substantial amount of money for them and send them to the poor defenceless citizens who are being slaughtered by ISIS on a daily basis. It will be a hell of a lot cheaper than sending over troops. Politics - Music Head - 15-10-2015 aha, I like the Isis plan Politics - Lovely Linda - 16-10-2015 Jerome Wrote:Not trying to pick a fight MH - just think the status quo has to change or the end results never will. It will be a hell of a lot cheaper than sending over troops. As I said, When our government outlaws guns, only outlaws will have guns. Even with a law to ban guns, do you actually think the outlaws who obtained their guns illegally will just turn them over. My answer is of course not. This is America and as I said in a earlier post we don't face the world as we would like it to be we face the world as it is. I know Archie Bunker's statement about gun control was suppose to be funny but if there were only a couple of armed security on each flight duriing 9/11 it may have saved many lives. That is just plan silly (sorry to sayJerome) that if we have guns the nut cases have a right to obtain them also but if they do insist on obtaining a gun anyone can get a gun illegally. That leaves us wide open with gun control and nothing to defend ourselves. Chicago as reported has the most strict gun laws in the country but look at all the killings going on there. If someone wants to kill there is always a way for them to do so. Gun Laws Are Not Going To Stop The Lawless In America! Take the armed S.S. away from Obama and people like Hillary then we may rethink the issue. Just like the Marketplace, why do they try to force something down our throats that they are not willing to promote by example. Bottom line is the American people will Never bow down to Washington or the rest of the world by giving up our guns period! We don't just believe we have a right to bear arms, we do have that right! Politics - Lovely Linda - 16-10-2015 Politics - Lovely Linda - 16-10-2015 The Second Amendment is much more relevant today than it was in 1791 because of the amount of crime on our city streets. More people, more crime. Politics - Jerome - 16-10-2015 Well if you don't want to change then don't complain about gun crime. Your solution to gun crime is to supply people with more guns. Completely insane. There are none so blind as those who refuse to see. |
