What Are You Listening To? - Tiggi - 06-11-2009 Yes - Relayer ![]() Progtastic !! Ridiculous instrumental sections, plus some woeful lyrics add up to quite a good record, actually. At times cacophonous, but at other times, very beautiful... What Are You Listening To? - janie_jones - 06-11-2009 These days a combo of Blondie - Best of (always my go to on my ipod) as well as Misfits ('tis the season right?) - Last caress, Dig up Her Bones, Die Die, Skulls, etc. What Are You Listening To? - CMB1888 - 06-11-2009 My son just finished watching an Eric Clapton show and is now watching a Fleetwood Mac documentary - so Eric Clapton and Fleetwood Mac, I suppose - whatever happened to my little punk boy! (Fleetwood Mac are great though) What Are You Listening To? - Beach - 07-11-2009 CMB1888 Wrote:My son just finished watching an Eric Clapton show and is now watching a Fleetwood Mac documentary - so Eric Clapton and Fleetwood Mac, I supposeI'm in the middle of transferring VHS tapes to DVD and then passing the old tapes onto a mate and the one that is in the copy machine at the present is an episode of the old 'Southbank Show' with Melvyn Bragg about Eric Clapton from around 1987 from memory! What Are You Listening To? - Erixouther - 09-11-2009 Barricade The Doors - Adair What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 09-11-2009 from my library Bob Dylan - Knocked Out Loaded - 1986 ![]() Release #22 by my count. Although not at the top of his game by now, the inclusion of Brownsville Girl is worth the price of admission. Awesome song for me. The only other top notch, penned by Kristofferson, They Killed Him is a very moving tribute to Ghandi, MLK and JC. A couple of clunkers on here, but it's Dylan, I let it pass. Album only reached #54, but the legend continues. The chosen single of Got My Mind Made Up was a dud. I like this album. Favorite Track - Brownsville Girl Well there was this movie I seen one time About a man riding across the desert and starred Gregory Peck He was shot down by a hungry kid trying to make a name for himself The town's people wanted to crush that kid down and string him up by the neck. Well the Marshall now he beat that kid to a bloody pulp As the dying gunfighter lay in the sun and gasped for his last breath Turn him loose let him go let him say he outdrew me fair and square I want him to feel what it's like to every moment face his death. Well I keep seeing this stuff and it just comes a-rolling in And you know it blows right through me like a ball and chain You know I can't believe we've lived so long and are still so far apart The memory of you keeps calling after me like a rolling train. I can still see the day that you came to me on the pinked desert In your busted down Ford and your platform heels I could never figure out why you chose that particular place to meet Ah, but you were right it was perfect as I got in behind the wheel. Well we drove that car all night 'til we got into San Anton' And we slept near the Alamo your skin was so tender and soft Way down in Mexico you went out to find a doctor and you never came back I would have gone on after you but I didn't feel like letting my head get blow off. Well we're driving this car and the sun is coming up over the Rockies Now I know she ain't you but she's here and she's got that dark rhythm in her soul But I'm too over the edge and I ain't in the mood anymore to remember the times when I was your only man And she don't want to remind me. She knows this car would go out of control. Brownsville girl with your Brownsville curls Teeth like pearls shining like the moon above Brownsville girl show me all around the world. Brownsville girl you're my honey love.Well we crossed the panthandle and then we headed towards Amarillo We pulled up where Henry Porter used to live. He owned a wrecking lot outside of town about a mile Ruby was in the backyard hanging clothes she had her red hair tied back. She saw us come rolling up in a trail of dust She said "Henry ain't here but you can come on in he'll be back in a little while". Then she told us how times were tough and about how she was thinking of bumming a ride back to where she started But she changed the subject every time money came up She said "Welcome to the land of the living dead". You could tell she was so broken-hearted She said "Even the swap meets around here are pretty corrupt". "How far are you all going ?" Ruby asked us with a sigh "We're going all the way until the wheels fall off and burn Until the sun peels the paint and the seat covers fade and the water moccasin dies" Ruby just smiled and said. "Ah you know some babies never learn". Something about that movie though well I just can't get it out of my head But I can't remember why I was in it or what part I was supposed to play All I remember about it was Gregory Peck and the way people moved And a lot of them seemed to be looking my way. Brownsville girl with your Brownsville curls Teeth like pearls shining like the moon above Brownsville girl show me all around the world. Brownsville girl you're my honey love. Well they were looking for somebody with a pompadour I was crossing the street when shots rang out I didn't know whether to duck or to run so I ran We got him cornered in the churchyard ? I heard somebody shout. Well you saw my picture in the Corpus Christi Tribune. Underneath it it said: "A man with no alibi" You went out on a limb to testify for me you said I was with you Then when I saw you break down in front of the judge and cry real tears It was the best acting I saw anybody do. Now I've always been the kind of person that doesn't like to trepass but sometimes you just find yourself over the line Oh if there's an original thought out there I could use it right now You now I feel pretty good but that ain't saying much I could feel a whole lot better If you were just here by my side to show me how. Well I'm standing in line in the rain to see a movie starring Gregory Peck Yeh but you know it's not the one I had in mind He's got a new one out now I don't even know what it's about But I'll se him in anything so I'll stand in line. Brownsville girl with your Brownsville curls Teeth like pearls shining like the moon above Brownsville girl show me all around the world Brownsville girl you're my honey love. You know it's funny how things never turn out the way you had them planned The only things we knew for sure about Henry Porter is that his name wasn't Henry Porter And you know there was something about you baby that I liked that was always too good for this world Just like you always said there was something about me you liked that I left behind in the French Quarter. Strange how people who suffer together have stronger connections than people who are most content I don't have any regrets they can talk about me plenty when I'm gone You always said people don't do what they believe in they just do what's most convenient then they repent And I always said. "Hang on to me baby and let's hope that the roof stays on". There was a movie I seen one time I think I sat through it twice I don't remember who I was or where I was bound All I remember about it was it starred Gregory Peck he wore a gun and he was shot in the back Seems like a long time ago long before the stars were torn down. Brownsville girl with your Brownsville curls Teeth like pearls shining like the moon above Brownsville girl show me all around the world Brownsville girl you're my honey love. 1) You Wanna Ramble - ** http://mp3dl.co.cc/play.php?src=4shared&id=109818428&x=796530de&name=1986%20-%20BOB%20DYLAN%20%28KNOCKED%20OUT%20LOADED%29%20-%2001.%20YOU%20WANNA%20RAMBLE 2) They Killed Him - *** - audio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8o3aLGG6ZUQ 3) Driftin' Too Far From Shore - * 4) Precious Memories - ** 5) Maybe Someday - ** 6) Brownsville Girl - *** - audio MP3DL Player 7) Got My Mind Made Up - * 8) Under Yor Spell - ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDFFYviyCOY 3's - 2 2's - 4 1's - 2 Rating - 2.0 What Are You Listening To? - CMB1888 - 09-11-2009 Music Head Wrote:I like this album. Agreed on both counts What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 11-11-2009 from my library Eagles - The Long Run - 1979 ![]() How do you follow up an awesome album like Hotel California? This doesn't even come close. That's what happens when you create a monster. This is their sixth album, which still sold huge, but I would think a lot of that was based on the previous effort. I know that's why I bought it. Not that this album is bad. It's holds up, although my top tracks were not promoted. The bad tracks are really bad. The album reached #1 with 3 top 10 singles. Schmit getting the lead vocal on I Can't Tell You Why was pretty cool, and the strings were awesome. Good thing there were no clips for the horrendous Disco Strangler and that Greeks thing. And I never thought Joe Walsh was a match for The Eagles. I LIKE THIS ALBUM Favorite Track - The Sad Cafe Out in the shiny night the rain was softly falling The tracks that ran down the boulevard had all been washed away Out of the silver light the past came softly calling And I remember the times we spent inside the Sad Cafe Oh it seemed like a holy place protected by amazing grace And we would sing right out loud the things we could not say We thought we could change this world with words like "love" and "freedom" We were part of the lonely crowd inside the Sad Cafe Oh, expecting to fly, we would meet on that beautiful shore in the sweet by and by Some of their dreams came true, some just passed away And some of them stayed behind inside the Sad Cafe. The clouds rolled in and hid that shore Now that Glory Train, it don't stop here no more Now I look at the years gone by, and wonder at the powers that be. I don't know why fortune smiles on some and let's the rest go free Maybe the time has drawn the faces I recall But things in this life change very slowly, if they ever change at all There's no use in asking why, it just turned out that way So meet me at midnight baby inside the Sad Cafe. Why don't you meet me at midnight baby, inside the Sad Cafe 1) The Long Run - ** - live YouTube - The Long Run 2) I Can't Tell You Why - *** - live YouTube - I Can't Tell You Why - Eagles 3) In The City - * - live YouTube - Eagles in the city 4) The Disco Strangler - * 5) King Of Hollywood - ** - audio YouTube - Eagles King of Hollywood Live 1980 6) Heartache Tonight - ** - live YouTube - Eagles Heartache Tonight 7) Those Shoes - * - audio YouTube - Eagles Those Shoes Live 1980 8) Teenage Jail - ** 9) The Greeks Don't Want No Freaks - * 10) The Sad Cafe - *** - audio YouTube - The Eagles with David Sanborn The Sad Cafe Live Los Angeles 1980 3's - 2 2's - 4 1's - 4 Rating - 1.8 What Are You Listening To? - Tiggi - 11-11-2009 ^ It's amazing how the loss of some members can make such a difference to how two consecutive albums sound. Plus I suppose they were consuming even more substances... What Are You Listening To? - Fretup - 13-11-2009 Like this one ' Unchained Melody ' by Gareth Gates.
