RE: What Are You Listening To? - Ruby - 14-04-2020

^I don't think the album was widely released - or not in the USA at any rate. Not sure why.

^^
I don't remember it either

RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 14-04-2020

from Wiki:

God's Great Banana Skin is the twelfth studio album by British singer-songwriter Chris Rea, released in 1992. The album wasn't released in the USA, though some tracks later appeared on the US release of Rea's following album Espresso Logic.

COLIN MASSON "the mad monk and the mountain" cd, 2010

UK folkie-cum-prog.
second album of four.
I own the first three.
has a bit of an Ian Anderson feel.
six tracks, four instrumentals.
nothing wrong with this album at all.
the instrumentals ebb and flow and weave between emotions.
some great guitar work here.
I LIKE THIS ALBUM

^All good listens.

Peter Gabriel - Hit. A compilation album with most of the usual suspects included and beginning with "Solsbury Hill" which is always a good start. "Don't Give Up" is also on this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DumLW1hwr0 - and that reminded me of the duet with Kate Bush on Midge Ure's Answers to Nothing, which is excellent IMHO - "Sister and Brother" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYHrQF1gLwY

I haven't really heard much of Grace Potter's music but I delved into it today ! The days are long so I am exploring music I really have never heard before ! Her band The Nocturnals are good buoyed by her great songwriting and impressive guitar playing !

The band is now disbanded so Grace is on her own ! I like the soft acoustic version of a song she played during this virus crisis ! Definitely much more to come from this overlooked and very talented lady ! Her biography is very impressive. Her songs have been used on numerous films and TV shows ! She also collaborates with Kenny Chesney, Flaming Lips, etc.

I love this ! Pure genuine talent , just Gracie and guitar and that voice !

WAKEMAN & COUSINS - Hummingbird

You have to like Dave Cousins or this won't appeal, Grumpy Old Rick's keys notwithstanding. Wakeman was with Strawbs for a while, hence the association. Released in 2002 - quite folk/rock oriented, some nice instrumental interludes - a decent listen while not hugely impactful - an indulgence maybe, by two guys whose careers are not, and never will be, in question. They are reworkings ...  the songs followed some of time by a coda - the clip below is cut very slightly short, unfortunately, and this is what comes after ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9FGtndRPgo

Nother one for good measure, "Forever Ocean Blue" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPauhGK6_Vg

Mostly because I love the album cover - Edward Hopper's 'Rooms by the Sea'. It's a good listen though. Jazz Rock would probably be the best description - a host of luminaries in the personnel line-up, Branford Marsalis, Pat Metheny, Phil Collins and Jerry Garcia among them.

Today, is Supertramp day. Haven't listened to Breakfast in a America for a while so starting with that one. Just noticed the rumpy pumpy on the title track which I see was provided by one 'Slide' Hyde - tuba and trombone. Weird how oblivious one can be. Had to look that up online because the CD liner notes are in miniscule print. Seriously - tiny. Yes, reading glasses are now a thing but even so - that's ridiculous, lol! Next up Crisis? What Crisis? followed by Crime of the Century ...

The opener ...
