I know this is not a funny subject but I thought I would lighten things up for a minute.
Seriously though, we should remember also that the terrorists who flew the planes
into the Twin Towers as reported only had box cutters.

Do you have even a glimmering of an understanding about gun use? Do you know that a disturbing number of domestic gun use is against other family members? And let's talk about an ace target of house thieves--most folks that own guns don't properly secure them and thieves know this. The NRA is all about gun manufacturers and nothing but--certainly not about local law enforcement...and they have succeeded in emasculating the Federal agency tasked with regulating gun sales, the ATF. Have you actually read and absorbed the 2nd Amendment, especially that part about an effective mlitia (these days, that's the National Guard)--thus, if your weapon isn't usable for your active, current service in the National Guard, you have no right to it. Period. Paragraph. End of story. Turn the page

No Liberal in Washington is going to take away that right without a fight.
Why do not the Liberals do away with their security guards if they are so against us protecting ourselves.
I'm sure they will give us a NO on that one.

What Liberals? They hardly exist anymore--the Democratic party as a whole is to the right of the Reagan-era Republicans. This convo has gotten so skewed because the Repulicants are deathly scared of the Hard-Right Tea Party fringe and single-issue whack-jobs (really?? Going after Planned Parenthood , childhood vaccinations and (as always) fluoridated water? Really?). Mr. Boehner was a righteous conservative and look what happened to him.

here's an example of gun safes from here in Perth...
http://www.mscsafeco.com.au/products/gun-safes/

every firearm in Western Australia must be kept in one of these when not in use
and the Police Force can knock on your door any time of the day or night and ask to
inspect your gun safe if you are a licenced firearms owner, they inspect ALL firearms owners
safes randomly annually,sometimes bi-annually.
if any requirement is not met by the owner, the firearms are seized and the firearms licence is revoked
on the spot, plus of course, there are huge fines involved for those who breach the gun storage laws
of Western Australia.

UK - 32 people die every year because of gun crime.
USA - 85 per day.

Someone here made a comment about not being afraid because they are armed. I suggest the opposite. You are armed because you are afraid.

Busy listening to a radio article on the subject at present. Very illuminating.

Change the law or face the consequences. It's that simple.

...and today an eleven year old BOY in Tennessee(I think it was Tn, anyway) was charged with the shooting murder of his eight year old neighbour over an argument over a puppy(the little girl did not want him to play with her puppy.

its so sad an shocking to know that a child could be able to pick up a loaded rifle and know how to point it and how to pull the trigger at another human being!

I read somewhere a couple of months ago that since John Lennon's murder in December 1980 that there have been one million gun related deaths(murder, suicide and accidental shootings) in the US
I also read somewhere that the majority of gun related deaths(per head of population) in the US are in the State of Alaska...with accidental hunting accidents, and domestic murder/suicides making up the vast majority of those
