Foghat - Tight Shoes - 1980

Brit blues rockers return for their 9th release. This is after their peak, and althought nothing stands out there, it's still an ok effort for me. Fighting punk/new wave/disco at this point, the album did not have much impact and led to a further decline in the groups popularity, with only 1 album remaining before founding member Lonesome Dave split the scene. He passed away from cancer in 2000. The album could only manage a peak of #106. Singles Stranger In My Home Town and Baby Can I Change Your Mind did nothing. Numerous line up changes over the years have left the band with not much direction. Still touring in some form I think. Not a clip to be found from this album.

Did I see someone in the shadow? Did I hear footsteps on the floor?
Did I hear laughter in the background just before she slammed that door?

Missed the last train, left around midnight, so I walked that lonesome road.

I'm listening to Christel South's "Instant Gratification." You probably haven't heard of her -- she's one of the artists I found hanging out at open mics. I LOVE this song, I'm so glad she finally posted it online! I'm eagerly awaiting a CD.

Tubes - Outside Inside - 1983

Really liked these guys first few albums. Then the inevitible decline begins. Originating in Pheonix, then relocating to San Francisco, the Tubes were formed in the early 70's, as art rock with some stage antics thrown in. Although this was their first top 20 album, on the strength of the single She's A Beauty, which reached #10, not much else holds up. Tip Of My Tongue was also a single, and is my fav, but barely made a dent at #52. First listen you would swear this is Earth Wind and Fire or Tower of Power horns, and even the vocals come close to EWF. A cover of Major Lances The Monkey Time (cool Martha Davis of The Motels vocal) was another single that did even worse. Wild Women Of Wongo is probably the only track to live up to their eccentricity. This is the sixth studio album and only 1 remained before the break up in '86. Of course there have been reunion tours (witness tracks #2,#3 if you dare. Hey, you gotta make a living) and albums, but they would/could never equal their prime years.

I do not like this album.

Dead By Sunrise - Out Of Ashes - 2009

Side project for Linkin' Park vocalist Chester Bennington. A mellower metal perhaps. Well some of it anyway. Not sure. Not a big Linkin' Park fan and some of this strikes me a lot better. Crawl Back In must be the lead off single as there is an Official Video plus they are making live appearances playing that.

I like this album.
