CLUB SKA "black and white" b/w "club dub" 1986

aussie ska band...
"a" side is not bad for reggae/ska...
"b" side is a remix of the "a" side, its not bad for a remixed track...
single failed to chart here or anywhere!

THE SWINGERS "counting the beat" b/w "one good reason" 1981

New Zealand band from 79-82(ish)...vocalist Phil Judd was a founding member of Split Enz with Tim Finn...
not sure why, but he left The Enz and formed these guys...
both sides of this have that quirky Split Enz feel to it,as does the cideo for the "a" side...
"b" side was a single in its own right back in NZ,but made the "b" side in Australia...that song reached #19 on the Nz charts...
"a" side is a touch repeatative, but in a good way IMO...
single peaked at #1 here and was the biggest selling single here in Australia in 1979...

INXS "this time-ep" 1985

this is the UK double vinyl disc release...
single contains the title track, which i like, plus three other previously released "a" sides including:
"original sin","burn for you" and "dancing on the jetty", i only bought it because i figured i could four "a" sides for the price of one!
single peaked at #19 here

EUROGLIDERS "the city of soul" b/w "when the stars come out" 1985

Aussie group from the mid 1980s, were popular for about five minutes, i like a couple of their singles, but this is not one of them!
that aside, i do like vocalist Grace Knight in her current style of jazz/blues
single reached #19 here

glad you liked that one SteveO, but on with the countdown...

ELTON JOHN "i dont wanna go on with you like that" b/w "rope around a fool" 1986

even though i found Reggie's albums to be substandard by this year, i still thought he made some good singles...
and this is a good "a" side, not great by any means, but okay...
"b" side sounds to me like Elton forgot how to write a decent track here, its what i term "a nothing track"
single did manage to reach #16 here back in the day

HUMAN LEAGUE "dont you want me" b/w "seconds" 1982

"a" side is their signature tune(for those who like that term!)
"b" side is off their superb "dare" album and is a tribute to Martin Luther King Jnr
single reached #4 here but desreved #1 IMO
