On the decline by this point for me, this 11th effort still passes the muster. Even though Collins had come out from behind the kit here, I always prefered the Gabriel years. Collins stage presence could never come close to Peter. Sparse with 9 tracks, the good tracks are very good. Album reached #1 in the U.K. and #7 U.S. Abacab, No Reply At All and Man On The Corner were all singles with No Reply At All charting the highest in the U.S. at #2.

I like this album.

I have a copy of this, & it marks the point where I decided enough was enough & ceased to be interested.

Having said that, when I hear Abacab tracks on the radio I always like them more than I remember. The disinterest was prolly more to do with how far they'd moved from the stuff I really loved.

Once again, it seems my strange tastes put me in an awkward spot between two camps. I thought Duke and Abacab were the top of their game: Not too spacy and progressive, and not too pop.

We all come at music from differing directions, with different requirements & expectations, so I celebrate the fact that everyone is different.
