What Did You Buy? - SteveO - 11-07-2012 You've bought some nice music there, Trace ! I can't get over the 50 cent vinyl...a lot more here !!! Happy to hear you opened the JA album !!!!...lol TraceNspace Wrote:I got 3 CD's, 2 are replacements for things that have walked off in the hands of someone else, no doubt my brothers.....they are Nirvana - Unplugged in NY and Beastie Boys - License to Ill. The third is a hip hop group called MAYDAY - Take Me to Your Leader. My husband is friends with one of the guys in the group. We knew they were touring but were surprised to find their CD so we had to buy it of course! What Did You Buy? - CRAZY-HORSE - 16-07-2012 ![]() GRAHAM NASH "songs for beginners" cd,1971. got Graham's debut solo set today, so now i finally get to hear this on crystal clear cd instead of my mum's old scratched worn out vinyl.... looking foreward to listening to it tomorrow then posting my thoughts about it...just hope it lives up to the fond memories of it from the days before digital music!!!! What Did You Buy? - LMD - 22-07-2012 Went on a binge of fairly cheap music lately. Picked up (Well, technically downloaded); ![]() "Helen Burns" - Flea Its a little messing around from Flea (the bassist of RHCP). Previews I heard sounded kinda jazzy and it was a pay-your-own price with proceeds going to solely to charity. Figured I could drop $5 on it. Pretty solid stuff, I enjoy it. "The Projectionist" - Peter Anthony Red A little singing from Tonedeff, who is typically a rapper, under a different name with movie scores in the background. Friend recommended it to me, and with it being free, I figured why not. Also a pretty good album. ![]() ![]() "Turmoil" - Zen Rising A little EP from the rock band. Released 2 of the 3 songs for free download so I just bought the 3rd to complete the album. Vastly underrated band. ![]() "Live at City Winery" - Red Wanting Blue A basic live performance that was recorded by the guys at Noisetrade and released for free. Great audio quality and great band makes for a great performance. What Did You Buy? - CRAZY-HORSE - 23-07-2012 dont know any of those albums mate??? i didnt know till the other month that Flea is actually Australian either! What Did You Buy? - LMD - 24-07-2012 CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:dont know any of those albums mate??? You know, I didn't know Flea was Australian until you told me. That's actually pretty cool. I really dig Aussies. As for the albums, they're all pretty good and fairly cheap (I spent a total of $6 on all 4 of those). Some links if anyone's interested in checking any of them out; "Helen Burns" - Flea http://silverlakeconservatory.com/helen_burns/ <--- A multitude of price options Since there's no previews there, here's a link to one of the songs on Youtube. The rest of the album follows the same basic pattern, albeit most songs are shorter. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=l9ZTyL-jKw4 "The Projectionist" - Peter Anthony Red http://peteranthonyred.bandcamp.com/album/the-projectionist Its a free download and you can listen to all of the songs before downloading anyway. Highlight of the album, in my opinion, is "Never Enough" in case anyone's interested. "Turmoil" - Zen Rising http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/zenrising2 <---- Its $2 there. http://www.amazon.com/Turmoil/dp/B006DLPQ0Y/ref=sr_shvl_album_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1343104883&sr=301-2 < --- $3 there. But, the band released two of the three songs for free download so you only have to buy one song if you like them and don't want to spend the extra dollar or two. Free downloads; http://www.reverbnation.com/mybandsmusic "Live at City Winery" - Red Wanting Blue http://noisetrade.com/redwantingblue <--- Free download Figured I might as well post some links here since I'm guessing no one really knows much about the albums. Pretty accessible stuff and fairly cheap so if its no good, its not really consequential in any way. What Did You Buy? - evilB - 27-07-2012 Great variety this time out! From a local store: Gaslight Anthem - Handwritten - great little rock album -Title track - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lf-rEslupnY George Thorogood - Best Of collection Aquisitons from my recent vacation: Horslips - Roll Back - nice re-recorded collection of favourites - I also picked up a few re-issues of their catalog Imelda May - Tattoo Love - has bonus live disc of Imelda Pugwash - The Olympus Sound - can't help but hear George Harrison-like sounds when I listen to Pugwash! Djerv - Djerv - Norewegian metal band fronted by a very strong female vocalist - not for everyone. Pogues - Pogue Mahone - one of the post-Shane McG. albums, a good album. Thin Lizzy - Johnny The Fox w/ bonus disc Lots of listening. What Did You Buy? - CRAZY-HORSE - 27-07-2012 evilB Wrote:Great variety this time out! i'll be getting the latest Gaslight Anthem one next visit to the cd store... cant go wrong with a best of Thorogood set neither IMO... love Imelda May.. Thin Lizzy are always good value IMO not a fan of The Pogues... dont know Horslips,Pugwash or Djerv, but have heard the name Pugwash somewhere in my travels?! What Did You Buy? - CRAZY-HORSE - 27-07-2012 after playing those three Beatle albums the other day, i got to thinking which, if any i dont own on cd....the answer was A Hard Days Night(i do own it on vinyl in original 'mono') so i got it today.... ![]() also, after listening to the debut solo set from Angus Stone and being more than impressed with it i also got this one.... ![]() Gaslight Anthem's latest release will be purchased on my next trip with my b'day vouchers...as will an Ian Anderson solo set(as recommended by Jerome)!!!! What Did You Buy? - CRAZY-HORSE - 27-07-2012 not a purchase as such but Corey's mate Tem, who now runs the cd shop told me he was going through his cd's on the weekend as was getting rid of the ones he either dislikes or has no musical attachment to...he said that equates to somewhere between 50-100 cds...he was going to throw them out, i suggested he goes through them again and i'll take them off his hands, said i could have them for no cost...not eager to take for nothing so i offered him $40 for the lot...he agreed to do so. am arranging to see him next week, should be a surprise as i do not know what im getting and being as he is in his late 20's, his era of music is not mine, hoping to get a few good ones out of it, but expecting a few duds also, that said though he does apparently have quite a diverse/eclectic range of music in his collection... time will tell i guess, but cant really go wrong for $40 IMO considering the current retail price of cds here is $30(i generally get them for between $10-$15 though). What Did You Buy? - danielkr94 - 27-07-2012 I recently took a trip out of town where i found a really great recordstore that only sold vinyl. The temptation was simply to great for me so i ended up going on a bit of a buying-spree. Ended up with: Santana - Caravanserai Santana - III Santana - Debut Album Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here Thid World - Journy To Addis |
