THE STYLE COUNCIL "how she threw it all away-ep" 1988

lead off track(ep title...), is a lovely soul based track with piccalo and plenty of horns...great stuff about a failed relationship

third track "long hot summer" s a remix of their 1983 hit
fourth track "i do like to b-side the a-side" is a stupid Mick Talbot instrumental

THE STYLE COUNCIL "groovin' ep" 1984 12" version

12" single contains the complete full length version of their superb soul/jazz love song "youre the best thing", complete with a brass section....
unfortunately the 12" also contains the full length version of the abysmal "big boss groove" song...
but also on this 12" is a very good remix of the "a" side hit...now im not normally a fan of remixes, but i do like this this one a lot
single peaked at #17 here

BILLY BRAGG & WET WET WET "she's leaving home" b/w "with a little help from my friends" 1988

this was a charity record that was only released in the UK...
various artists recorded tracks from the Sgt Peppers album, retitled it "sgt.pepper knew my father", and all the monies raised from the sale of this single and the album went to childrens causes in the UK...
"a" side of the single is Bragg's version of the Paul classic "shes leaving home"...its not bad,Bragg does ok, but its obviously not a patch on the original
"b" side is WWW's version of the Ringo sung classic...its not bad neither, but again, you cant beat the original of this one neither...
Wet,Wet,Wet were a scottish band, had a huge hit with "love is all around" around 1986/87...
when they were on Top Of The Pops performing this one, Macca happened to be appearing on the same show, Macca was being a bit of smart arse and mimmickd those guys singing the track with a scottish accent...Wet Wet Wet responded by singing "mull of kintyre" in a scottish accent...touche,Sir Paul!
single was not released here but did climb to #1 in the UK

Agree. Tainted Love is a classic!
CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:SOFT CELL "tainted love" b/w "where did our love go?" 1981

without a doubt my favourite single from the 1980s...all class IMO!
"b" side is a cover of the old Supremes hit, now im a huge Motown fan but this cover is by far superior to the original also...
without a doubt, one of the greatest "a" and "b" side single combinations i have ever heard, and as you guys have already seen, ive heard/own a lot of singles!
single did here what it did just about everywhere else in 1981....it dominated the charts...yes, it got to #1 and rightfully so!

I have always LOVED I Fought the Law by The Clash!
CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:THE CLASH "i fought the law" b/w "city of the dead" & "1977" 1988

a re-issue to coincide with the release of their double cd best of set "the story of the clash"...
"a" side is a cover of an old 1960s hit...much prefer The Clash's version.
"b" side tracks are two from 1977, theyre good also...
single didnt chart here upon reissue...
