^Yes - gorgeous song. To be pedantic, Jeff Wayne, Gary Osborne and Paul Vigrass wrote it though. JH was singled out specifically to sing it on War of the Worlds, and what a great job he did!
Richard Carpenter was born on this day in 1946, in New Haven, Connecticut. I canât imagine that anyone who is interested in music would not know who the Carpenters were; they had so many hit singles in their time. Richard composed, produced, arranged and was the pianist/keyboardist, sometime lyricist, and supplied vocal harmonies now and then.

that would make him 89 years young now...
started out as a pianist but was told rock would not be a piano player's genre for long...
Chuck took up guitar and played like a pianist which is why his unconventional style was unique back in the day...
he has influenced just about every other guitarist who came after him in one way or another...
the guy still preforms live but not as frequently as he did up until a couple of years ago after he collapsed on stage...
he was a major influence of two of rocks greatest bands in Beatles and Rolling Stones...
he only ever scored a solitary #1 hit on the charts and had to wait until 1972 to achieve that with his almost comedic track "my ding-a-ling"

Esperanza Spalding was born on this day in 1984, in Portland, Oregon. She is a natural â seeing and hearing Yo-Yo Ma when she was four years old, she says made a big impression on her and determined her eventual musical direction. She plays the cello, violin, bass guitar and sings in English, Spanish and Portuguese, but her big love is for the double bass. She has four Grammyâs tucked neatly under her belt and she is the first ever jazz musician to win in the Best New Artist category (2011), pipping the Bieber at the post on that one! I do not understand how one could even begin to compare them?!

I have both Travelling Wilbury albums, a couple of his solo albums and a compilation....
