KASEY CHAMBERS "the captain" cd,1999
"the captain" is part of a four disc set of Kasey's first four studio albums...the others will be posted in release order over the next week or so..
"the captain" is Kasey's debut set from 1999...
she is a modern country singer from here in australia, but unlike other so called country singers like Taylor,Lady Antebellum,Shania etc who IMO are more pop than country, Kasey and her music are as close to real country as modern artists get...
this album reached #11 on the charts here and eventually hit double platinum status, was surprised to find that it also reached #49 in the US, just not sure whether that was on their country charts of mainstream, im assuming country though...
Kasey also recieved several Australian CMA awards here for this, her debut set...including best country album and best female vocals, she is a worthy talent in the country genre, and thoroughly deserves every accolade she gets...
was a tough call on the three love tracks here, the beautiful 'this flower', the sad 'last hard bible' or the humorous 'we're all gonna die some day'...thought i had to go with the first one though as that is more indicative of her general style...

KASEY CHAMBERS "barricades and brickwalls" cd,2001.
Kasey's second album...
she developed quite a positive stir with her debut set and obviously this one went to #1 here on the regular and country charts eventually going 7xplatinum here.also reached #11 on the US country charts...
Kasey also became the first artist to have simultaneous #1 album and single on the regular and country chart with this album and the single 'not pretty enough'(2xplatinum)
also picked up best female artist,best album and songwriter of the year awards at both the CMA's here and the ARIA's(our grammys) with this album.
a lot more variation on this one than her debut, some guitar driven country,some straight out country with ahint of bluegrass on here also...
a great selection of tracks on this one and Dani's favourite Kasey album...mine is yet to come(wayward angel) which is next being her third release...

KASEY CHAMBERS "wayward angel" cd,2003.
the third Chambers album in my boxset...and one i got for Music Head prior to the Horse-Head tour of 2011...
this is my favourite album of hers(although i do prefer the variation of music on 'barricades and brickwalls')...
a more mature,world weary,world travelled Kasey on this one, reached an obvious #1 position here on the national and country charts, also reaching a respectable #31 on the US country album charts...album wasnt as successful as the barricades one here but still managed triple platinum including platinum on the week of release back in the day.
Kasey also recieved two gongs at our CMA awards for this one for 'best country album' and 'best female artist'...also got the same awards at the ARIA's the same year, strangely enough she also picked up 'best cong' at the ARIA's with "like a river" which incidently was not released as a single as far as i am able to recolect.
the opening track on the album was also the highest charting single off this one reaching a decent #10 on our national singles chart...
all up, a very classy album from one hell of a classy chick,great stuff!

just discovered that since her debut album in 1999,Kasey Chambers has picked up 30 CMA Awards here from nine albums thus-so-far, has also picked up 22 ARIA awards...pretty impressive stuff for any artist to achieve IMO....

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN & THE SEEGER SESSIONS BAND "we shall overcome:the seeger sessions" cd,2006
this is The Boss' "americana" album, a collection of mostly traditional folk songs, some dating back to the mid 1800s...
the album was recorded in three sessions in 1997,2005 and 2006, all the songs were recorded in single takes with no prior rehearsals(according to the linear notes)...
the sound is authentic with banjo's,fiddles,accordians abound...
interesting to note is that one track "american land" written by Springsteen was later re-recorded for his 2012 album 'wrecking ball'...
a great hootenanny,knees up album unlike anything Bruce has ever released and sublime IMO...
my copy also came with a bonus dvd of seven tracks and includes an interview with the Boss as to the making of the album and the sessions from which it came, i have not watched the dvd yet but while i have the cd out i sure will!
ps: all the links are worth watching,this is awesome stuff from The Boss
