LUCINDA WILLIAMS "car wheels on a gravel road" cd, 1998

luci's fifth studio album...her first was in the late 1970s, so its a long time between drinks for her..unfortunately that does not mean quality IMO....
the album was produced by Rick Rubin, im not a huge fan of his work(except for his JC albums),always find the sound of what he does to be incomplete/unfinished, or even messy.
this album starts off with several country/pop crossover tracks then she goes back into real country songs..
the songs are for the most part about lost love,heartaches...that sort of thing, im not real keen on her voice though, she never sounds enthused about what she is singing about.

I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM

SIMON & GARFUNKEL "the essential..." cd,2003

back to the compilations again...
double disc set released to coincide with their reunion tour of the same year...
this may surprise some members here but i am not a big S&G fan, a lot of what they do sounds boring to me...as does their respective solo material(dont like any of Art's solo stuff and only two of Paul's solo albums..."graceland" and "rhythm of the saints")
forty tracks on this two disc set,i can give or take most of them, but what i like, i generally love by these guys with very little inbetween the love and dislike scores...
i do appreciate their harmonies though, they work very well together in that respect, i simply dont think a lot of their material justifies their so called 'greatness' tag
also, im not putting up links here as we all know the songs,so only putting up my scores for the tracks for your info.

LADY ANTEBELLUM "need you now" cd,2010

second album from this gal and guys from Nashville,Tennessee...
i have two of their albums now...good group but not as good as the critics make them out to be IMO.
this one contains the super smash hit 'need you now' which pretty much sums up the sound of the album...light crossover country/pop!
best one here for me is 'stars tonight' which is a bit on the rockier side of what they do and thats the only one i love on here.
allup, not a bad album, glad i got it before all the hype in the media or i would have been dissapointed i think!

I LIKE THIS ALBUM

worst track: american honey
best track: stars tonight

tracks:

1. need you now **
2. our kind of love **
3. american honey *
4. hello world **
5. perfect day **
6. love this pain **
7. when you got a good thing **
8. stars tonight **
