Over to the old cd stack for the last of my Steve Earle purchases. A nice compilation covering
his first six albums with this 19 song set. I have five of those six albums, so a lot of this
is repetition for me. I needed a Steve Earle cd compilation. Six of these tracks are from his
first album, Guitar Town, and the title track from that was the biggest "hit" on here. That was
in '86 and the albums are through 97's El Corazon. Love five tracks on here and nothing I don't
like, making the album just miss my love mark. The live version of Valentine's Day on here just
doesn't hold up to the recorded, which I love. Apologies to the live music lovers. My favorite,
Copperhead Road, just kicks ass.

Release Stats: albums 35, singles 69
The groups seventh album. Made my love mark, no thanks to the one track I don't like, which is
a throwback to the 40's/50's country music radio program. That's a ten minute set in which the
boys parody that scene with too much cutting up and some bad covers, all in fun, but both the
jokes and the music are so bad. Five love tracks make up for it, with Class Of '57 making my
fav. One of their all time best songs for me. It made #6 on the country chart and was the only
single off of here, with the album coming in at #7.

Dukes Of Hazard boy who also did some recording. This is his seventh album, and his biggest
selling, reaching #1 on the country chart, on the strength of the first two tracks being #1
singles. Don't remember either of them. The album falls in the pop/country area for me. It
makes it in as a like but it was a close call. The guys first hit was in 1981, a cover of
Elvis's It's Now Or Never. He had a 10 album career with the last charting one i 1987. Gave it
up after that. Decent enough country voice, but can't say much for the material. Nothing I
loved and three I don't like.

JOHNNY CASH "american recordings III:solitary man" cd,2000.
the third of the Rick Rubin produced "american recording" albums by The Man In Black...
and the most dissapointing IMO(and im a huge cash fan!)
obviously another covers set in the twilight of his life....
Cash manages to do reasonably good renditions of U2's "one" and nick Cave's "the mercy seat", almost gave both of them "***",and would have had i not loved the originals so much,
there's an abysmal cover of his own "country trash" song on here also...i guess you might like it had you not heard the original when his booming baritone was strong and deep back in the day. look, all up, not a bad album as long as you put in context of not only his age(late 70s) but also his rapidly declining health....but it is a testament to the love of all forms of music that the C-man had in his heart.
