DIDO "no angel" cd, 1999.[B] #1 in 35 countries![/B]
Dido Armstrong's second album...her first sunk faster than Titanic a couple of years earlier.....
we all know this one, well, we all know the sample of "thank you" that Eminem used on his classic track "stan" in 2000...
the rest of this album has the same feel and vibe to it as "thank you"....some lyrics are quite dark in places,reflrecting on past relationships/relationships gone bad....that sort of thing, nuch in the same vein as say Sinead O'Connor....another Irish girl, coincidence?, i think not...must be the Catholic upbringing LOL!
21 million copies sold,#1 in 35+countries,Grammy's,Brits etc etc...this album was the biggest selling album in the UK by a British artist in the '00's prior to Adele's "21"...both are classics IMO, and both will go down in history as being 'classics' of this era of music!

cant recall the name of her follow-up album to this one, but that was pretty good also, but not as good as this because it followed the same formula to a tee!

Local boys hit the big time. These guys are from this area and played the bar circuit in Richmond/Lexington back in
the 70's. When I moved from the area they were the house band for a local bowling alley/bar. Went to see them a
couple of times with a friend who was friends with leader JP Pennington. Back then they were mostly a country covers
band. Got signed and quickly went pop. Had a big pop hit with Kiss You All Over. That's the only thing I remember.
Funny thing is they are considered country by most. Not a thing on this one I would call country. And it's some
pretty bad pop. Only three tracks I can handle. But what the hell do I know? Album was a #2 on the country charts,
with four #1 country singles. A perfect example of where me and country parted ways.
