I heard a track by him many moons ago, also with a female fiddle player/violinist but cannot remember the song. I remember thinking it was one of the most energetic live performances I have ever seen. Must try and find it again. Also love his 'Jackie Brown' track.

1964 Sam Brown
that makes her 51 now...
only ever had one big hit which I own on 7" vinyl(linked below)
I also own another of hers, a cover of "can I get a witness"...
she recorded a lot of 1960s soul/r+b....
so here is Sam Brown with her classic "stop".

Yo Yo Ma was born on this day in 1955, in Paris, France. His family moved to New York when he was five. A child prodigy, he is quite possibly the most willingly versatile of virtuoso cellists in the history of the instrument! He seems happy to experiment and has played all sorts of genres from bluegrass to minimalist, accumulating 18 Grammy Awards and releasing 90 plus albums along the way. He is nothing short of brilliant, and occasionally absentminded! He left his 280 year old Montagnana cello, which is named Petunia, in a NYC taxicab one evening; fortunately it was later recovered intact.

Another honour bestowed upon him is that Jacqueline du Pré bequeathed her Davidov Stradivarius to him. I don’t know whether or not it’s the Strad he’s playing in this clip – one might assume so, especially because of her own association with this piece. It’s interesting also that Daniel Barenboim is conducting – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjYy71hqu84

He appears on this rather nice rendition of “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” with Carlos Santana and India Arie - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGIIWPgODkk

And here he is playing “Ecstasy of Gold” from Ennio Morricone’s soundtrack to The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

Ive watched a lot of Cougar live tracks on YT,
There's no consistacy with his live shows, he's either very good or downright aweful IMO,
the clips prior to 1990 are generally very good but after that its hit or miss.

I have this disc - Yo-Yo Ma plays Ennio Morricone - excellent value for money - perfect for those log fire/red wine evenings!

1985 BRUNO MARS
superb R+B/funk/soul/pop artist IMO....
I have both of his albums and both are very good...
the guys moves like a cross between Michael Jackson and James Brown and
can sing with the raw power James Brown/Wilson Pickett etc or as sensitive as say MJ doing "ben"...
awesomely talented guy....
he wrote "forget you" aka "f#ck you" for Cee Lo Green also...

heres one of my favourites from Bruno, its not on any of his albums but is destined to be the
biggest selling single of 2015....superb live version IMO

Oh yes! Love the sublime music from The Mission and Cinema Paradiso on this compilation too, mind you, it’s all pretty amazing (and I have a weakness for spaghetti westerns). These are two such incredibly accomplished creative forces – awesome together. They’ve made something truly sumptuous.

Happy Birthday to Clyde “Jackson” Browne! He is 67 today. Born in Heidelberg, Germany whilst his father was stationed there as a serviceman – he grew up in LA. He’s been inducted into the Rock and Roll and Songwriters Hall of Fame, and has consistently been a champion of many causes, both humanitarian and environmental, using his artistry to call attention to a number of issues. He walks his talk, and his own ranch is completely off the grid.

This clip is from the No Nukes concert (and subsequent triple live album) of 1979 – Mr Browne from about six minutes in … https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_BrOPtEf7k

And a few years on (2013), another one he did at that concert, with Graham Nash, as per the original, and still sounding good - both of them! (So does that guitar, even although it’s not David Lindley – I think it’s Shane Fontayne) –

Bruno Mars is awesome. Both of his albums are pure quality.
"Locked Out of Heaven" is a top tune for me.
