MH yours is due today via UPS - currently in Louisville KY.

Just spoke to some family back in Cape Town. Seems like half the reason you have power blackouts in SA is that 3 of the top Eskom execs have been helping themselves to 745 million ZAR. Is it any wonder the place is falling apart.

^Yes. Charming! Where is the money though? It's gone. Every single time some exec is caught with their fingers in the cookie jar - Joe and Josephine citizen bear the brunt and the exec gets a slap on the wrist. No doubt tariffs will be increased so they can do us a favour, keep the lights on and we can all feel grateful. Pffft. Ridiculous that the state should have a monopoly on power supply - so wrong.
It's also a case of smoke and mirrors though - drawing attention away from years, decades even, of mismanagement - Medupi power station was purposely built next to a coal mine for ease of supply, except that mine produces coal that is the incorrect grade for a dry coal fueled plant and can't be used, hence the 'wet' coal story ... among various other stupidities - https://www.fin24.com/Budget/how-medupi-and-kusile-are-sinking-south-africa-20191009
There's a funny doing the rounds that says "Eskom, putting kers back into Kersfees" - lol!

Oh that last one is funny. For the uninitiated - 'Kersfees' is Christmas in Afrikaans. 'Kers' is a candle in Afrikaans. In other words the National Electricity supply company is forcing everyone to go back to candles for Xmas. Mind you, there could be a lot of babies in a manger in 9 months time with that sort of lighting..... - why am I never in the right place at the right time - LOL!

Ruby, apologies, should be ladies first but looks like it's Africa last. Yours is going to be delivered in early January and mine at the END of January (back orders). Anyway I hope it's worth the wait. Time will tell. It always does.
