Looking Back At Some Classics - Jerome - 24-03-2013 Music Head Wrote:#349 - Who - Baba O'Riley - 1971 This is what rock music is all about. Amazing how Entwistle's bass drives the whole track. Looking Back At Some Classics - SteveO - 24-03-2013 ^ again should be a lot higher than 349! A great song all around! Looking Back At Some Classics - CRAZY-HORSE - 25-03-2013 "***"......The Who at their best Looking Back At Some Classics - Music Head - 28-03-2013 #348 - Supremes - You Keep Me Hanging On - 1966 running recap for me - 3's=85, 2's=56, 1's=10 this one - *** from the album: The Supremes Sing Holland–Dozier–Holland Written by Brian Holland,Lamont Dozier, Eddie Holland Produced by Brian Holland,Lamont Dozier Chart action: #1 US, #8 UK, #11 Australia the players: Diana Ross - lead vocal Florence Ballard - backing vocals Mary Wilson - backing vocals Funk Brothers - music Can't think of a Supremes single I don't love. This one became the groups eighth #1 single. The beginning of this song is supposed to sound like an SOS call. Never thought of it like that but I guess it does. Although I love this song, it is not near the top of my Supremes favs. Excellent cover of this by Vanilla Fudge in the late 60's. And no I don't like the Phil Collins version. Lyrics Set me free, why don't cha babe Get out my life, why don't cha babe 'Cause you don't really love me You just keep me hangin' on You don't really need me But you keep me hangin' on Why do you keep a coming around Playing with my heart? Why don't you get out of my life And let me make a new start? Let me get over you The way you've gotten over me Set me free, why don't cha babe Let me be, why don't cha babe 'Cause you don't really love me You just keep me hangin' on Now you don't really want me You just keep me hangin' on You say although we broke up You still wanna be just friends But how can we still be friends When seeing you only breaks my heart again And there ain't nothing I can do about it Woo, set me free, why don't cha babe Woo, get out my life, why don't cha babe Set me free, why don't cha babe Get out my life, why don't cha babe You claim you still care for me But your heart and soul needs to be free Now that you've got your freedom You wanna still hold on to me You don't want me for yourself So let me find somebody else Hey! Why don't you be a man about it And set me free Now you don't care a thing about me You're just using me Go on, get out, get out of my life And let me sleep at night 'Cause you don't really love me You just keep me hangin' on... Looking Back At Some Classics - CRAZY-HORSE - 28-03-2013 Kim Wilde did a cover of this Supremes song back in the mid 1980s which was aweful with all those 1980s synths and drum machines, heres the link if you dont remember it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNyRU0fKHAY (video) like you though.."***" here, i thought Phil Collins covered "you cant hurry love",not this one????? Looking Back At Some Classics - SteveO - 31-03-2013 I like the song! Vanilla Fudge did a hard rock cover that I like also! Looking Back At Some Classics - Music Head - 09-04-2013 no I didn't quit. I just get burned out on occasion but I always come back #347 - Paul McCartney - Maybe I'm Amazed - 1970 running recap for me - 3's=86, 2's=56, 1's=10 this one - *** from the album: McCartney Written by Paul McCartney Produced by Paul McCartney Chart action: #10 US, #26 UK the players: Paul McCartney - guitar, bass, piano organ, drums, vocals Linda McCartney - backing vocal Gotta be up there among the top McCartney songs for me. The studio album version of this song was never released as a single. The chart placements are from a Wings live recording 6 years later. Sure didn't know that trivia. Gryphon probably did, or maybe even CH. The song was written before the Beatles break up. It was one of the few tracks from the album that Paul went back to Abbey Road to record. He does all the instruments and vocals. Who needs a damn band anyway? Lyrics Baby, i'm amazed at the way you love me all the time, and maybe i'm afraid of the way i leave you. maybe i'm amazed at the way you pulled me out of time, you hung me on the line. maybe i'm amazed at the way i really need you. baby, i'm a man, maybe i'm a lonely man who's in the middle of something that he doesn't really understand. baby, i'm a man, and maybe you're the only woman who could ever help me. baby, won't you help me to understand? ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh. oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. baby, i'm a man, maybe i'm a lonely man who's in the middle of something that he doesn't really understand. baby, i'm a man, and maybe you're the only woman who could ever help me. baby, won't you help me to understand? ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh. maybe i'm amazed at the way you're with me all the time, maybe i'm afraid of the way leave you. maybe i'm amazed at the way you help me sing my song, right me when i'm wrong- maybe i'm amazed at the way i really need you. Looking Back At Some Classics - CRAZY-HORSE - 09-04-2013 Yeh..i did know that MH I prefer the live version over the one from the "mccartney" album "***" from me....and i agree,in the top ten macca solo songs for sure Looking Back At Some Classics - SteveO - 12-04-2013 One of my all time favorites without a doubt!!!!!! The supreme Macca at his best! Looking Back At Some Classics - Music Head - 16-04-2013 #346 - Aerosmith - Walk This Way - 1976 running recap for me - 3's=87, 2's=56, 1's=10 this one - *** from the album: Toys In The Attic Written by Steven Tyler, Joe Perry Produced by Jack Douglas Chart action: #10 US the players: Steven Tyler - vocals Joe Perry - guitar Joey Kramer - drums Brad Whitford - guitar Tom Hamilton - bass Inspiration for this was a Mel Brooks gag from Young Frankenstein. Like the movie but no clue what they are referring to. From my favorite album by the band, but not sure I loved this song when it came out. It took some plays. No I have never liked the Run DMC version, which probably sold more copies than the original. Lyrics backstroke lover always hidin' 'neath the covers till I talked to your daddy, he say he said "you ain't seen nothin' till you're down on a muffin then you're sure to be a-changin' your ways" I met a cheerleader, was a real young bleeder oh, the times I could reminisce 'cause the best things of lovin' with her sister and her cousin only started with a little kiss like this! seesaw swingin' with the boys in the school and your feet flyin' up in the air singin' "hey diddle diddle" with your kitty in the middle of the swing like you didn't care so I took a big chance at the high school dance with a missy who was ready to play wasn't me she was foolin' 'cause she knew what she was doin' and I knowed love was here to stay when she told me to walk this way [8x] just gimme a kiss like this! schoolgirl sweetie with a classy kinda sassy little skirt's climbin' way up the knee there was three young ladies in the school gym locker when I noticed they was lookin' at me I was a high school loser, never made it with a lady till the boys told me somethin' I missed then my next door neighbor with a daughter had a favor so I gave her just a little kiss like this!
