From the new stack. Just misses my love mark and it would have made it easy if not for some of
these not being the original recordings. That is only obvious to the trained ear (mine). For
that reason alone I would not recommend this album. My other complaint is there are no liner
notes on the cd package. Instead there is a note on the back that says, for liner notes and
photos insert this cd into your computer. Give me a friggin break. I didn't do that. Can't
complain about the song selection, though only 14 tracks seems rather light. It was one of
those bargain bin purchases for $7, so I'll settle for it, as I have no other Kris on cd. There
are three dud tracks but with seven on the love side it's a nice set.

MARK KNOPFLER "the ragpicker's dream" cd,2002.

not sure who recommended this one to me(jerome or tiggi maybe??)....
loved Dire Straits immensely, but this is the first and only Knopfler solo recording i own....
and it is great stuff, bits of blues, bit folky in places and country also...
pretty hard so say much more about it than that, only that everything i have ever heard him put down on tape has been "awesome as f##k"(oh wait thats a green day thing, must still have them guys on my mind LOL), seriously though, this is a great collection of songs from one of the best songwriters of the last 35 years IMO...oh, except for that dumbass track called 'quality shoe', which is about shoes, all sorts of shoes, shiny shoes, old shoes, newly buffed up shoes, steel capped shoes, maybe Mark is related to Imelda Marcos????

I LOVE THIS ALBUM

worst track: quality shoes
best track: old pigweed

IRIS DeMENT - Sing the Delta (2012)

I am very happy to have discovered Iris DeMent of Arkansas! This is real country as opposed to the latest trend in slick crossover. Similar to Lucinda Williams in some songs, this is Iris's first release in sixteen years. Her piano playing on here as well as her original sounding vocals is sublime. Reminds me of those great country piano players Floyd Cramer, Jerry Lee Lewis, Mickey Gilley, Ronnie Milsap, Ray Charles and Charlie Rich.

All the songs written by DeMent. No information available for the lineup of musicians. I LOVE THIS ALBUM!

The country boy bands first hits collection. Started out as a gospel band back in the 60's but
evolution took place in both personnel and sound to bring them to the country pop arena in the
70's. Only 10 tracks here but I guess it has any major hits. Compiled from their first four
albums after the change. I;m glad this came out before Elvira so I didn't have to listen to it
again. Not sure what the biggest hit here was as they were all top 10 on the country side, with
some crossover hits as well. Three #1 country with I'll Be True To You, Leaving Louisiana and
Trying To Love Two Women. Don't care for that last one as well as Cryin' Again. Love three
tracks with Y'All Come Back Saloon getting my best. The album reached #5 on the country chart
and #99 overall.

A Canadian treasure presents his ninth album. He was yet to catch on here, with a #42 showing
here, but this was a #1 in the homeland. Folk sound on most of these tracks, with the exception
of a string section on some. Don't really think it's needed but it doesn't hurt. With five love
tracks and nothing I don't like, it was a pleasure. Haven't had a love album in awhile. I
probably backtracked to pick this up, as I don't remember anything getting airplay. It says
Beautiful was a single but it is my least favorite track. Tough call on my best but I can
relate to the coffee song. Title track gave it a battle. Gordon's best years were yet to come.

I LOVE THIS ALBUM

Worst Track - Beautiful

have never heard that coffeee song...i liked it

i have a best of set waiting to get played, "if you could read my mind" was always my favourite track of his...
never really liked his voice though, but a great writer nonetheless IMO
im sure the best of set will get a decent enough score though
