What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 25-03-2016 from the vinyl shed one of my classic albums that I need on cd not that the vinyl doesn't sound fine his debut album after departing Mott The Hoople and the first of many collaborations with Mick Ronson this one is a classic for me What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 26-03-2016 Found this - I do not often post new music, much less Irish music, which most of the the time is contrived and panders to the tourists, but this guy passed away recently and they played his music on the radio and I was fascinated by it. Conor Walsh - The Front - a fantastic piece of music. Just before he died he said that he had found his voice at last - I agree. Magnificent. - https://youtu.be/4bsNu4ySxeI What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 27-03-2016 from the vinyl shed 2nd album and the first of many great ones he wouldn't catch on for a few more years only reached #27 here title track hit #25 on the singles side fav What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 28-03-2016 absolute classic IMO MH....scored 2.6 from me previously http://www.music-discussion.com/showthread.php/3537-What-Are-You-Listening-To?p=41739&highlight=billy+joel#post41739 What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 28-03-2016 Jerome Wrote:Found this - I do not often post new music, much less Irish music, which most of the the time is contrived and panders to the tourists, but this guy passed away recently and they played his music on the radio and I was fascinated by it. Magnificent. - https://youtu.be/4bsNu4ySxeI what is wrong with me because I liked that piece of music??? the setting with those stained glass windows etc suited the piece beautifully IMO. I tried using Wiki to get some information on him but there isn't a page, the only Connor Walsh on Wiki is a ballet dancer. What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 28-03-2016 CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:what is wrong with me because I liked that piece of music??? Very little info on him CH. Think he only released one album - an EP of sorts. I don't like all his stuff that I have heard so far, but this piece caught my ear. What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 29-03-2016 DREAM THEATER "images and words" cd, 1992. career stats: studio albums.......13 singles.................25 this album.............#61 US singles: "pull me under".....no chart action "take the time".....no chart action "another day".......no chart action their original singer quit after their debut so this introduced the vocalist who is still with them to this day.... second album from these prog rock-cum-metal band... some overblown rock on here, some rock ballads also... no real orchestrations on this one, but some keyboards and even sax on one track, that one happens by coincidence to be my favourite track on here and its a superb rock ballad by anyone's standards IMO... nothing on here I don't like but plenty I love... I just hope the others I bought live up to this one! I LOVE THIS ALBUM worst track: learning to live best track: another day tracks: 1...pull me under *** 2...another day *** 3...take me home *** 4...surrounded *** 5...metropolis pt:I ** 6...under the glass moon ** 7...wait for sleep *** 8...learning to live ** 3s=5 2s=3 1s=0 rating: 2.6 What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 04-04-2016 DREAM THEATER "falling into eternity" cd, 1997 career stats: studio albums.......13 singles.................25 this album.............#52 US...#153 UK singles: "burning my soul".......no chart action "hollow years"............no chart action "you not me".............no chart action Dream Theater's fourth album.... love the cover, very Pink Floyd IMO.... not surprising considering these guys are really Prog from what ive heard... this album is not Prog, or even heavy Prog, it borders on hard rock this time round... very little in the way of orchestrations but there are several ballads/rock ballads on this one... my favourite here is one of those ballads, a piano based ballad to be precise, far superior to anything else on the album so, why wasn't it released as a single to attract the "mainstream" music fan??? and incidently, the opening piano tune is very similar to Elton's "song for guy", im pretty sure Elton would have inspected the similarities between the two. I loved the recent release (the astonishing) which was my introduction to these guys, and loved the other one I posted (images and words), this one isn't a patch on those but its is still okay... I LIKE THIS ALBUM worst track: hells kitchen best track: anna lee tracks: 1...new millennium * 2...you not me ** 3...Peruvian skies ** 4...hollow years ** 5...burning my soul ** 6...hells kitchen (instrumental) * 7...lines in the sand * 8...take away my pain ** 9...just let me breathe ** 10.Anna Lee *** 11.trial of tears ** 3s=1 2s=7 1s=3 rating: 1.9 What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 04-04-2016 Steely Dan - Greatest Hits - bloody brilliant album - must buy some more stuff of theirs. Very clever songwriting, way ahead of the crap being dished up lately by so-called 'artists'. What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 05-04-2016 this is the one I have Jerome ![]() superb album but it only contains 16 tracks... I actually heard "Rikki don't lose that number" on the radio this morning and got to thinking, I really should buy some o their back catalogue, then I see your post stating "must buy some more of their stuff". |
