Not sure if I liked this at the time but I certainly don't now. Style of rap gets old fast, after 2 tracks in this case. This is the groups debut album and their 3rd best selling.
Strange that the album only charted in the US yet both singles only charted elsewhere. Didn't know Rick Rubin produced this. Have to give the homies props for a
relatively clean album as compared to todays rap, and even the lyrics are a cut above what you hear today. They received 5 grammy nominations over the years but did
not win any.

Looks like their 2nd best selling album and allmusic loves it. Still does nothing for me at this stage of my life. Maybe it did at one point. I have a couple more of their
albums on vinyl in addition to 2 on cd. This one does come out 2 hairs better than their first one. Seems to be a bit more real music on this one. Anthrax is featured on
the last track which is my worst. Sorry metal lovers. Overall PE's lyrics are much better than current day rap. A lot of politics rather than the money, sex, drugs of today.
The Arizona track here is a good example of that. About the refusal of the state to recognize MLK holiday.

AL GREEN "greatest hits" cd, 2009
i was never a big fan of Al, but am a big 'soul' and 'r+b' fan....not todays r+b!
i dont know why, but his soul just doesnt really do it for me for some reason...
im also assuming this ten track disc is one of those 'budget' releases of lessor singles because a guy who had forty years of r+b charting singles on the Billboard charts
should deserve more than ten tracks on a compilation...
nothing i love on this, i even prefer UB40's cover of "here i am(come and take me)"...
all up, a very average bunch of soul songs that simply dont match up to my favourites(otis,wilson,marvin and the motown artists)
love the live version of my favourite track linked below from "soul train" though

No idea the man had that many albums. They could have left this one out. Half bad and half good but who wants something half good. I see now that this album was
one of those contract fulfillment deals. Apparently he signed another contract as albums after this are still on Warner. This was also when Prince was going through his
name change thing leaving Warner to try and figure out how to market an artist that has no name, only a symbol. That didn't work out so well. Some good funk on a few
tracks here but it doesn't hold up. And it didn't sell well compared to his previous output. So bad I couldn't even find any clips for it.

A very prolific artist, the trouble with being so, is that quality falters at times, like Neil Young.

Just squeaks in as a like. Prince got his name change and was at the top of the ego chart. This is his first album under that new name. There had been a big dispute
with his long time Warner label but they made up and released this. It is a damn site better than that last garbage titled Come. Not quite as profane on this one but he
gets his share in. This would turn out to be my last Prince purchase. I no longer knew how to file him. Couldn't find any clips for this. He has control.
