Cat Stevens actually...
in the late 1970s Cat quit pop music and absorbed himself into the Islamic religion, he took on the Islamic name Yusuf Islam and dissapeared into a London(uk) Mosque for the best part of two decades. upon returning from the wilderness he recorded an album in 2006, then in 2009 he released this little gem...
really, not much has changed for Cat over the last thirty years, he still has beautiful melodies, thoughtful and forthright lyrics, lovely acoustic folky sounding songs of love,peace ans spirituality...
a real treat to hear this one, as it also is to hear his older material....

Didn't I do this? Oh well, it's worth it. I have it on vinyl and now cd. Not crazy about the live versions of four
of the songs, but whatever. To me, a greatest hits albums should not include altered versions of the songs. Only one
of those I remember as a single, Homeward Bound. That one here is not as good as the original. Apologies to all
those who prefer live material, just not for me. Released over 2 years after the duo had called it off maybe they
had no say on the inclusion of those. With 14 tracks, hard to let that impact the greatness of these songs. So I'll
complain about the packaging. Absolutely no liner notes on this. A greatest hits from the original label of an
artist this popular is shameful. The album peaked at #5 here, and is the duos best selling album, with over 14
million copies sold.

Barry's eighth, and he had already peaked a couple of albums ago. The second one to not go multi-platinum here with
a #14. But he was picking up steam in the UK (#5). A couple of great ones here for me with The Old Songs (#15) and
Somewhere Down The Road (#21), but four that didn't do it, the worst being the cover of The Four Seasons, Let's Hang
On (#32). Frankie Valli wishes he could roll over in his grave. The downward spiral had begun here and Barry
wouldn't recover until he started doing those oldies albums for which he has settled in to wrap up a stunning
career. He went for a string of 13 albums without a top 20 until his first Greatest Songs series in 2005 took him
back to #1. I think I lasted a couple more albums before I bailed out. Thanks for the memorys Barry.

Nature Boy in full force on this ninth release. A few people loving, but more nature loving songs on this one. From
the title track to the beautiful Calypso. This is the follow up to John's best selling studio album, Back Home
Again. It lives up to that one for me. Seven love tracks and nothing I don't like. His second and last album to make
#1 on both the pop and country chart. Four singles charting, with I'm Sorry taking #1, Calypso #2, Fly Away #13, and
Looking For Space #29. All love tracks for me. I see Olivia Newton-John does backing vocals on Fly Away, beautiful.
Only a couple of country flavored tracks on here (Late Nite Radio, Love Is Everywhere), enough to keep those fans
satisfied as well. My fav is John's tribute to Jacques Cousteau, Calypso.

Can't find my album cover anywhere. This one is a 2007 re-release, which includes a bunch of additional tracks. The
group featured Midge Ure pre-Ultravox. Not a bad album. More of a pop sound with plenty of hooks. Never cared for
for Ultravox that much, so this is actually better. This is the only album released by Slik, and I'm sure it didn't
sell that well, at least in the states. A couple of love tracks where the hook sucked me in. Both of those were
released as singles. Forever And Ever topped the U.K. chart and the band seemed to have some momentum. Follow up
single of Requiem was set for release along with the album when Ure was in a bad car accident, which canceled the
upcoming tour and chance for exposure. By the time Midge had fully recovered, any excitement for the band had moved
on. They split shortly after. Three tracks that sucked including the cover of the Everly Brothers When Will I Be
Loved.
