RE: I read the news today, oh boy! - Music Head - 28-11-2019 (28-11-2019, 13:24)Ruby Wrote: ^And Happy Thanksgiving MH!back at ya I'm with you on the Black Friday people are crazy and it's like its own damn holiday here glad to be a non participant RE: I read the news today, oh boy! - Jerome - 28-11-2019 I was listening to a BBC radio program. They chose 76 typical items people would buy on black Friday. Turns out only 4 of them were value for money. Some, not many, of the other items were actually cheaper 3 months ago! The whole thing is just a blatant ripoff and an exercise in marketing. And of course all the sheep will gather at the stores. Just goes to show the profits they are making the other 364 days of the year. People are just plain dumb. Now here's a classic example of political ineptitude. The Oireachtas in Ireland decided they needed a new printer in their offices. So they went and spent 808,000 Euros on a new printer. Yes, 808,000 for a printer! About double the size of a normal office printer. Said printer arrives at the building and they find it can't fit through the door(s) to get to it's final destination despite the manufacturer pointing out it's dimensions to them. So they get workmen in to break open the doorways to facilitate the delivery. Of course this all has to be fixed up afterwards. Cost of building works - 200,000 Euros. The total cost after all the extra wings and propellers are taken into account is 1.6 million Euros for a large printer. Can you believe this crap? But the real killer is that no-one knows how to operate it. Seriously. And they want you to believe that Ireland is the Silicon Valley of Europe. These are the monkeys running the country. Jesus wept. RE: I read the news today, oh boy! - Ruby - 06-12-2019 ^^What are they planning to print I wonder?? Still difficult to beat buying an entire fleet of trains that are the incorrect gauge!!! Not that it's a competition or anything. And speaking of monkeys - the princes of darkness deigned to inform us a few hours ago that we are now on load shedding stage 4 (having entirely bypassed stages 1, 2 & 3 - in the deep south at any rate). Stage 4, for the uninitiated, is one step before a total national blackout ... and it's summer!! We are theoretically using less power. They're blaming wet coal. Whatever. The lights will go out shortly, LED's charged, flasks filled, etc., - what an absolute drag. Criminals will be happy. https://www.thesouthafrican.com/news/how-wet-coal-cause-load-shedding-eskom/ RE: I read the news today, oh boy! - CRAZY-HORSE - 07-12-2019 geez theres some inept stupidity around with wrong gauge trains, office printers that end up costing 1.6 million WTF! and I thought our leaders/Government Officials were dumbasses! just goes to prove that Trump is a genius (or maybe, well, most probably not! LOL) RE: I read the news today, oh boy! - Ruby - 08-12-2019 ^Most probably not. Load shedding about to start so I'm out of here for now. RE: I read the news today, oh boy! - CRAZY-HORSE - 08-12-2019 amid all the news stories of stupidity, hatred, death and murder heres a lovely one: prisoners in Auschwitz who became lovers finally reunited after 72 years. ![]() https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/world/lovers-in-auschwitz-reunited-72-years-later-he-had-one-question/ar-BBXW1JA?ocid=spartandhp RE: I read the news today, oh boy! - Ruby - 09-12-2019 ^Sorry to say stupidity prevails - here at any rate - especially in the upper echelons of power. We have been 'upgraded' to Stage 6 load shedding. That means 9,5 hours of no electricity tomorrow!!! Junk status looms large. RE: I read the news today, oh boy! - Jerome - 10-12-2019 How does anyone get anything done without electricity? Do these blackouts apply to the business world as well? Thieves and criminals must be having a field day. Oh well it's the same old African story. Get into power and empty the state coffers into your own pockets. Then sit back 10 years later and wonder why nothing you have bought with the stolen money works anymore. Another breadbasket nation turning into a basket case. RE: I read the news today, oh boy! - CRAZY-HORSE - 10-12-2019 I have a fascination of all things volcanic and would love to have the balls to visit and stand on the crater of an active volcano then crap happens like in New Zealand yesterday and im glad im a coward over such things! https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/world/why-white-island-erupted-and-why-there-was-no-warning/ar-BBY0kyz?ocid=spartanntp other things i'd love to have had the balls to do in my life: climb Everest (nowhere near fit enough now but was when I was younger) Cage diving with Great White Sharks Bungy Jump Parachute |
