Coming Up...Paul's ode to jazz. I like the horns!!!
CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:PAUL McCARTNEY "coming up" b/w "coming up(live)" and "luchbox/odd sox" 1980

strange this one comes out the day i intend posting his "mccartney II" album in the threads...!
"a" side is the studio version"
"b" side is a live version crdited to Wings and the third track is a stupid instrumental...
strange because hefre and in the UK the studio version was regarded as the "a" side, yet in the US it was the live version that became the hit single!
single made it to #2 here

ROLLING STONES "paint it black" b/w "long long while" 1988

this was re-issued as a single release from the "tour of duty" soundtrack...
ive got to admit, i love both sides of this single which would make it my favourite Stones "a" and "b" side combination
the single reached #1 back in the 1960s, but on this occasion it peaked at #64

ROLF HARRIS "two little boys" b/w "tie me kangaroo down sport" 1978

a twenty-fifth anniversary release here of two of his singles...
Rolf's material is light-hearted and sing-a-long stuff generally...
the "a" side originally peaked at #7 here, the "b" side was a #1 hit here...
single this time round failed to chart...
and if Rolf is convicted on his child-sex charges in the UK in April 2014 then this single will end up in the bin(as did Gary Glitter's when he was convicted)

Does this collection ever end? I could have bought a small country with the amount you have spent on singles to date. How many are there? You and Dani must be living in a warehouse at this stage.

THE FOUR TOPS "reach out, i'll be there" b/w "until you love someone" 1966

if the Supremes were my favourite female Motown group,Mary Wells my favourite female artist,Marvin my main man there, then Four Tops would be my favourite
Motown boy-band...
that said, i love their signature tune, "b" side is very good also(if you like Motown)....
single only reached #62 here....stupid backward Aussies!

LITTLE HEROES "one perfect day" b/w "just cant wait" 1982

Aussie group from the early 1980s...
this was their one and only hit, "a" side is a lovely ballad about longdistance friends/relatives etc...
"b" side shows why they only had one hit!
single reached a well deserved #2 here...

MADNESS "our house" b/w "walking with mr.wheeze" 1983

of all the great singles Madness made in the early 1980s i still cant believe this was their biggest worldwide hit...???
i guess it wasnt quint-essentially "english" with its themes so the Yankees could maybe associate with it...
i like the "a" side, just dont think its as good as some of their earlier singles
"b" side is a typical piece of Madness "b-side" crap!
single reached #17 here but reached the top10 in the US/UK

RAY-PARKER Jnr "ghostbusters" b/w "ghostbusters-instrumental" 1984

Ray had a number of hits here in the early 1980s..."the other woman" peaked at #1...!
this single was the theme song for that stupid "ghostbusters" movie...
i actually like the instrumental version on the "b" side also...its just a great piece of simple pop music IMO...
single reached #2 here but made it to #1 just about everywhere else back in the day

for some reason it is a breach of copyright to view this song on youtube in Australia...WTF!!!!
