CYNDI LAUPER "she's so unusual" cd,1983.
Cyndi's debut set...
very 1980s pop IMO, but in a good way!, eighties pop from the US really doesnt get much better than Cyndi and Madonna IMO(Michael Jackson being the only one better!).
great little tunes on this one, from the universally acclaimed smash hit and original Girl Power anthem "girls just wanna have fun" through to my favourite ballad "time after time", shame she didnt go on much longer as a chart success, but has still released many quality songs since then...
this album hasnt fared as well as i expected it to when i put it on,was hoping and expecting a "love" rating, but not to be!

GOTYE "like drawing blood" cd,2006.
debut solo set from 'somebody that i used to know'....
well, most people know him now,but not then or for the first decade of his career..
this one has the same sparse feel as his Making Mirrors album, but overall, a whole lot less catchy...and certainly not as good overall, but still,that said, more consistant(ie:less aweful tracks).
nothing great on here,just ok tracks IMO, and certainly not good enough to have made an impact on the Aussie charts back in the day neither, but somehow managed to be nominated for "album of the year" at the 2007 ARIA Awards...
at least my two favourite tracks have links available!!!

The diva steps out of her comfort zone to team up with Barry Gibb on this one. Surprised he didn't get his name on
the cover as producer. The Bee Gees were hot at this point. Producer, duet on two tracks, backing vocals throughout,
and writing credit on all tracks. Not much of my Bee Gee's sound on here. This is Barry after he developed that
indescribable voice for disco. But then this is a Barbra Streisand album. It is her best selling of her career. A
grammy and a #3 hit for the title track, one of the two duets with Barry. The other, What Kind Of Fool, reached #10.
Best for me and the only love track is Woman In Love, a #1 hit. The fourth single, Promises, was released as a 12"
disco single for club play. The album had four grammy nominations for the year, only taking the one for Best Pop
Vocal Performance. A #1 album in twelve countries, and now 5 times platinum.

The lads had started to hit it big here with I Started A Joke. Time to go to the vault while they worked on their
little known masterpiece, Odessa. The first of their three albums titled Rare Precious And Beautiful. Material
recorded from 64-66, when they were still unknowns and living in Australia I think. The beautiful harmonizing that I
love has not peaked on most of these for me. Still getting it together maybe. Four love tracks out of it though,
which isn't bad for this kind of album. Spicks And Specks comes out the best with an excellent live clip for it from
some Aussie tv show. Never came out here, but a single elsewhere. Not sure if any other tracks were singles.
