THE HUMAN LEAGUE "(keep feeling)fascination" b/w "total panic" 1983

very good synth group from the UK...not sure what it is about these guys but they stand out from the rest of that genre from that period,
maybe its Oakley's bass tones or the pop vocals from the female singers, maybe its the good melodies, not sure, maybe a combination of all of the above,
either way i like this "a" side,"b" side is their usual crap though
single reached a respectful #8 here

NENA "99luft-ballons" b/w "99 red balloons" 1983

only hit here for these guys, have already posted the follow up single "just a dream" previously...
German rock group, song theme is of an anti-nuclear one...
"a" side is the original german sung version, "b" side is the same song sung in english...i prefer the German one
single topped the charts here!

PAUL McCARTNEY "coming up" b/w "coming up(live)" and "luchbox/odd sox" 1980

strange this one comes out the day i intend posting his "mccartney II" album in the threads...!
"a" side is the studio version"
"b" side is a live version crdited to Wings and the third track is a stupid instrumental...
strange because hefre and in the UK the studio version was regarded as the "a" side, yet in the US it was the live version that became the hit single!
single made it to #2 here

ELVIS PRESLEY "love me tender-ep" 1978

yet another release to cash in on Presley's death...
this one is different though becaue it contains all four songs from his debut movie 'love me tender'...
these tracks are brilliant showing the raw Presley before Hollywood and fame molded him into a product
single failed to chart here

FAIRGROUND ATTRACTION "perfect" b/w "mythology" 1988

UK acoustic-pop group who only released a couple of albums...
this "a" side is an almost perfect pop song IMO, it has melody, sweet vocals from the female vocalist, and pop catchy tune....great stuff...!
"b" side isnt as catchy but its still a pretty good song, cant believe why these guys never made it,they could have ended up in a similar style to The Corrs had they kept going...
single reached #1 here and rightfully so!

KENNY EVERETT "snot rap" b/w "snot rap pt.II" 1983

some background on Kenny...
he was one of the original 'pirate' radio station dj's in the UK...his 'close to the bone' humour and quick witt had him sacked from stations throughout his career..
he was the first radio DJ to play "bohemian rhapsody" on air(the other dj's and stations at the time thought it too long for radio play)..he ended up having his own comedy show on BBC tv for over a decade until he died from HIV/AIDS related complications...
anyway, back to the song...this is a comedy record which basically takes the p#ss out of rap music as sung by two of his most famous tv characters "sid snot" and "cupid stunt"...
single failed to chart here but his popularity in his homeland earned him a top10 hit over there

JOHN FARNHAM "age of reason" b/w "when the war is over" 1988

John celebrates his first twenty years in the industry with his umpteenth hit,
this guy has one of the best voices in rock/pop IMO...
"a" side very good song IMO, "b" side is a cover of a Cold Chisel track, not as good as the Chisel's version but still very good
single peaked at #1 here
