my "singles" collection - CRAZY-HORSE - 18-11-2013

THE KINKS "come dancing" b/w "noise" 1982

gotta love this "a" side, has all the hallmarks of a classic Kinks track, from melodies, theme and characters in the song...
"b" side is an acoustic track, not anywhere near as good as the "a" side but still pretty good for a band 20yrs into their career...
single reached a dissapointing #36 here,should have been a top10 hit!

HOWARD JONES "look mama" b/w "learning how to love" 1985

another one from HJ's "dream into action" album....
"a" side is pretty good,i used to love it, so it has slipped a notch for me...
"b" side, typical "B" side crap from Jones
single made it to #20 here, which is where it probably deserved to get IMO

UB40 & CHRISSIE HYNDE "i got you babe" b/w "theme from labour of love" 1986

"a" side is a cover of the old Sonny & Cher single...i prefer this one.
"b" side is an instrumental of an unreleased track from their "labour of love" album

BOZ SCAGGS "lido shuffle" b/w "lowdown" 1976

another one i bought after the fact, was too young to know and appreciate it when released...
i was looking out of interest for some info on Scaggs and found the "a" and "b" side were both released as "a" side singles in the UK, but released on one single here
love Lido, like lowdown...
single made it to #2 here back in the day

ARETHA FRANKLIN & GEORGE MICHAEL "i knew you were waiting for me" b/w "instrumental" 1986

i had just got "into" aretha just prior to this being released so i loved hearing something fresh from her...add to that one of my favourite singers of that period and it was destined to be purchased and loved by me!

LENE LOVICH "lucky number" b/w "home" 1979

if ever there was a one hit wonder here, then Lene was it...
"a" side is sort of a post-punk/cum- new wave track...
this was quite original back then, i still like it
single peaked at #2 here

MADONNA "live to tell" b/w "live to tell(instrumental)" 1986

another Madonna, didnt realise i had so many of her singles...
this one is a ballad, and probably one one of a small few that i still love...
and typically, she doesnt give anything away fro free as theres another stupid instrumental on the "b" side!
single made the top10 here peaking at #7
