First two of the remasters box-set.

Brilliantly remastered, so the albums sound full & fresh. Musically, they were starting to hit their stride & whilst a lot of these songs are straight-forward R&B, the Lennon & McCartney song-writing is already looking a bit special.

Dazzling work...

Surely, you'd love to listen to the original records of these great albums. Personally I own Please Please Me as an LP and it is a great listen, but i just love the sounds of the LP. it sounds so raw. love it.

I'm a big advocate of vinyl, but haven't bought any for years now. I have the Red album, the Blue album, & Sgt Pepper on vinyl, and these new discs are blowing the socks off the sound of the vinyl.

Probably the vinyls I have are pressed from nth generation master tapes, so aren't going to sound great, but that doesn't alter the fact that the CDs are beautifully presented...

Who - A Quick One - 1966 - **

Second album released in 1966. U.S. version was released as Happy Jack and that track is included. I believe it is not on U.K. version, My copy is titled A Quick One with a sub-title of Happy Jack. I don't know. Record companies are stupid. The title A Quick One was considered too sexually suggestive. Give me a break. Whatever. Oh yeah, the album. Pretty good stuff overall, with a few duds, especially that cover of Heat Wave. The two title tracks are the standouts for me, along with Don't Look Away. Writing credits are pretty spread out here, with everyone getting a turn,
