^^LOL! I'm not going there either.

David Broza was born on this day in Haifa, Israel. He is a guitarist singer/songwriter and peace activist. He sings in Hebrew, Spanish and some English and is involved in several humanitarian causes. He seems to be well loved, and his music is enjoyed globally. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Broza

He spent 17 years in the USA and whilst there, played some music with, amongst others, Townes van Zandt (on two occasions). Those meetings led the troubled Townes to bequeath Broza a shoebox full of his own lyrics and poetry which he asked the Israeli to set to music. As a result of that bequest - Night Dawn: The Unpublished Poetry of Townes Van Zandt was born and released in 2010. There is divided opinion about this album - people seem to love each artist individually and dislike their creations when put together. Here’s a clip – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhWAINLMEkk

He’s done something completely off the charts with Georg Friederich Handel’s Sarabande – not sure that bewigged gentleman would have approved! I think it’s quite interesting though, and he certainly knows his way around a fretboard – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3RGhLK9pNaU

This is a song I like – even although it’s sung in Spanish and I only get the basics – great melody and I like the sounds of the instruments … “Quedas Solo Tu” (not what the uploader says it is, but the sound is good and the bio below is informative) –

Farrokh Bulsara, 1946
in Zanzibar/Tanzania...
better known by his stage name Freddie Mercury, lead vocalist with rockband Queen
these guys were untouchable on the charts for around fifteen years and will be best remembered
for their vocal-layered "bohemian rhapsody" more than any other song...
Freddie will also be remembered for his consummate professionalism and charisma as a live performer...

here's a superb live performance from 1986...

A snippet 'specially for CH - Freddie Mercury vs Sid Vicious - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sfu-oko0Fl8

It's from the documentary Queen: Days of our Lives. Fascinating viewing - well worth seeking out IMHO.

Thanks for that one Ruby....
It must be a Sex Pistols week with that, two members having birthdays and John Lydon's PiL releasing a new single.
Looks like I'll have to get"never mind the bollocks" out and play it...not that I mind because it's one of my favourite albums.

^Not my thing at all - just never got them! The only thing I came remotely close to enjoying was "This is not a love song" ... to each their own, yet again ... enjoy!

Al Stewart was born on this day in Glascow, in 1945. Singer/songwriter and player of multiple instruments, … “he developed a unique style of combining folk-rock songs with delicately woven tales of characters and events from history”.

His album, The Year of the Cat is in the same league as 461 Ocean Boulevard and Dark Side of the Moon, IMHO – not in any way referencing the music – just that wherever you see a collection of records, those three are almost guaranteed to be in it! (Just a theory – no stats available! Lol!)

Time Passages comes close to The Year of the Cat in the popularity stakes (both were produced by Alan Parsons – go figure!). The title track ….

Public Image Limited/Pil's "(this is not a)love song" is my favourite track of theirs...
I was around 10 when Sex Pistols and punk broke so that's the music of my formative years, that's why
it's probably stuck close to my heart.
Like you said.....each to their own, that's music.
I've said this before though...
What means something to one person means something totally different to someone else....
There's no real right or wrong with music, its about how you feel when you hear it, if it "moves you", its done its job.

Happy Birthday to Roger Waters! He’s 72 today. Nuff said … https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Waters

His solo efforts are concept albums and best listened to in their entirety, IMHO; nevertheless, the final track from Radio K.A.O.S –
