Looking Back At Some Classics - Music Head - 23-02-2013 #366 - Jimi Hendrix Experience - Little Wing - 1968 running recap for me - 3's=74, 2's=51, 1's=10 this one - *** from the album: Axis: Bold As Love Written by Jimi Hendrix Produced by Chas Chandler Chart action: non-single the players: Jimi Hendrix - guitar, vocal Mitch Mitchell - drums, glockenspiel Noel Redding- bass Think it's the glockenspiel that works for me. Thought it was a xylophone, but I wouldn't know the difference. It makes it pretty. Coming off his appearance at the Monterey Pop Festival in '67, Jimi headed to the studio to lay this down. He says it is his favorite track on the album. Lyrics Well, she's walking through the clouds, With a circus mind that's running wild, Butterflies and Zebras, And Moonbeams and fairy tales. That's all she ever thinks about. Riding with the wind. When I'm sad, she comes to me, With a thousand smiles she gives to me free. It's alright, she says it's alright, Take anything you want from me, Anything. Fly on little wing. Looking Back At Some Classics - Jerome - 23-02-2013 I have to say I prefer Stings's version - especially that guitar solo and then the way it changes to the woodwind part. Great bass lines too! Magical stuff. http://youtu.be/0t73ZTRCdIc Looking Back At Some Classics - SteveO - 24-02-2013 I love this tune by Jimi! Looking Back At Some Classics - CRAZY-HORSE - 24-02-2013 "**" from me Looking Back At Some Classics - Music Head - 24-02-2013 #365 - Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) - 1983 running recap for me - 3's=74, 2's=52, 1's=10 this one - ** from the album: Sweet Dreams Written by Annie Lennox, Dave Stewart Produced by Dave Stewart Chart action: #1 US, #2 UK, #1 Canada the players: Annie Lennox - vocal Dave Stewart - guitar, keyboards, synthesizer other people playing things Good song, not great for me. Breakthrough hit here for the duo. Their first single in the US but the fourth in the UK. Electronics was making its move into the studio, and Dave Stewart was at the forefront. His programming of instruments is mentioned. A turnoff for me. Video with Annie and her butch orange hair became an MTV hit giving the song a huge push. Lyrics I see the bad moon arising. I see trouble on the way. I see earthquakes and lightnin'. I see bad times today. [Chorus:] Don't go around tonight, Well, it's bound to take your life, There's a bad moon on the rise. I hear hurricanes ablowing. I know the end is coming soon. I fear rivers over flowing. I hear the voice of rage and ruin. [Chorus] All right! Hope you got your things together. Hope you are quite prepared to die. Looks like we're in for nasty weather. One eye is taken for an eye.
