I don't know, alt/pop if I have to. Certainly popish feel, but not lyrically. Second album from brit star, but has yet to make serious waves in the states. Four singles have been released, The Fear, Not Fair, **** You and 22. A lot of great tracks for me.

I love this album.

Favorite Track - Chinese

Holly Golightly - Slowly But Surely

Could almost be a straight Jazz/Blues/Country release, but there's enough of the alternative for it to qualify. Plus it's a very "independant" release.

The first song On The Fire is the killer song that drew me to the album.

Recommended to me on another forum, auditioned via Spotify...

Nick Lowe - Pure Pop For Now People - 1978

Debut solo effort from Brinsley Schwartz frontman. His best overall album imo. Not well received in the U.S. with a high of #127 on the charts. Maybe doesn't deserve my alt placing, but that's how I prefer to think of him. Filled with catchy hooks, this album (titled Jesus of Cool in the U.K.) takes rock back to the pubs, where Brinsley Schwartz made it's mark. Not a bad song on here.

I love this album
