Born on this day ... - CRAZY-HORSE - 31-08-2015 I love Here Comes The Night, probably the best thing he ever did IMO... BTW im just not a fan of his music nor him as a person, he is one hell of an arrogant s.o.b....that's probably why he's friends with Paul Weller(two peas...) Born on this day ... - Ruby - 31-08-2015 Anthony Thistlethwaite was born on this day in 1955. Founding member and saxophonist for The Waterboys, as well as a player of the mandolin, harmonica, Hammond, guitar and double bass. I have not heard anything of his other project - The Saw Doctors, with whom heâs been aligned for the past twelve years. I think I knew The Waterboys A Pagan Place and This is the Sea by heart at one stage, loved those albums. Thistlethwaite was involved in both â theyâve had a shedload of members! Two tracks that always stand out (for me), from A Pagan Place â âThe Big Musicâ â https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5eP95OsxqM and the title track from This is the Sea â Born on this day ... - CRAZY-HORSE - 01-09-2015 1955 BRUCE FOXTON bass player with The Jam.... The Jam split in 1982, his solo career didn't really take off, in the late 00's he formed a Jam cover band called From The Jam which were hugely successful as a live act... around 2010 he appeared on Paul Weller's "wake up the nation" album, the first time he played alongside Weller since 1982. he even appeared on stage with Weller on Weller's "wake up the nation" tour in the same year, there was a media frenzy in the UK with many thinking a Jam reunion might be possible(but Weller will never do it!). here's one of his solo efforts from 1983 Born on this day ... - Music Head - 01-09-2015 Barry Gibb - born on this day in 1946 in England that would make him 69 his first single as a solo artist I had never heard this at least he hadn't caught the disco fever yet Born on this day ... - CRAZY-HORSE - 01-09-2015 ive never heard this one neither.... its a lovely track with a country flavour. Born on this day ... - Ruby - 01-09-2015 Happy Birthday to Grant Lee Phillips â he is 52 today. Born Bryan G. Phillips in Stockton, California, he is a registered member of the Creek Native American Tribe and also of Blackfoot/Cherokee ancestry on the paternal side. Previously recorded under Grant Lee Buffalo, but has been using GLP for some time now. Heâs a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist â one of my favourite indie artists. In his most recent album, Walking in the Green Corn, he explores his background and heritage which he integrates into his music in a very seamlessly subtle and yet soulful manner â not dreary at all; heâs got a sense of humour too. Heâs leaning more towards acoustic lately, whereas before, had done something quite different, for example, on Mobilize. Both albums mentioned above have received great reviews, as has most of his work. Heâs one of those hard-working touring musos. âNight Birdsâ a solo acoustic live clip from Walking in the Green Corn - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nc-z4NUkjeQ The thing about Mobilize is that the tracks are quite diverse - the title track - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvHYCWgg2j0, and another one which is completely different. He plays all the instruments and electronics on this album (and a drum machine for percussion ⦠ssshhh!) â some interesting sounds ⦠https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uh7YlJdTuAc â¦and the lead track, âMona Lisaâ, from his album Virginia Creeper - Born on this day ... - CRAZY-HORSE - 02-09-2015 1951 Mik Kaminski keyboards and violinist with Electric Light Orchestra.... the orchestrations were a key element in their "orchestral rock" sound of the 1970s.... its so hard to single out one track from these guys as they made so many great songs over fifteen or so years, so here's one that came to mind immediately when I thought of them.... Born on this day ... - CRAZY-HORSE - 03-09-2015 STEVE JONES 1955 Sex Pistols guitarist.... Born on this day ... - Ruby - 03-09-2015 Don Brewer was born on this day in 1948, in Flint, Michigan. Drummer and co-vocalist for Grand Funk Railroad. After leaving GFR, amongst other projects, he joined Bob Seegerâs Silver Bullet Band, leaving them in turn, in 1983 and re-enlisting in 2006 for a tour, and again for 2014âs Ride Out tour. As well as the drums, he did the lead vocal on the title track to Weâre an American Band (and half the vocals on that album) â Born on this day ... - CRAZY-HORSE - 04-09-2015 1975 MARK RONSON record producer, writer has worked with McCartney,Amy Winehouse,Lily Allen and Robbie Williams to name a few... here's what I consider to be his best recording to date....
