What Are You Listening To? - TraceNspace - 18-11-2012 He was always on my mind. Him and Georgia. What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 23-11-2012 from my library (vinyl) Expected this to come out slightly higher. With only the one love track and two bombs, it's a moderate like. That love track, This Ain't My First Rodeo (#14), was probably why I bought this, not being familiar with most of his work. Funny that his only #1 on here, I Can Tell By The Way You Dance, is my worst track. A few of the others here were top 10 hits. Last album by the man was in 1993, and he passed away in 2009, from a stroke at the age of 74. Very nice country voice, hearing some John Anderson and some Randy Travis. Don't have any studio albums by Vern, but I would think this sums up his career in 11 easy steps. I LIKE THIS ALBUM Worst Track - I Can Tell By The Way You Dance Best Track - This Ain't My First Rodeo 1) If You're Gonna Do Me Wrong (Do It Right) ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwWwpM4U9IM 2) Slow Burning Memory ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-UXWzAHycU 3) This Ain't My First Rodeo *** live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oK0B7v3cFus 4) Today My World Slipped Away ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9aBsDWlwMI 5) Way Down Deep ** live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ciFFqoba9fg 6) Is It Raining At Your House ** live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWl9IuDeQWc 7) Friday Night Feeling ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6waRB2MJ0A8 8) Till The End ** live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxOnGeV7bn4 9) I Can Tell By The Way You Dance (You're Gonna Love Me Tonight) * audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JAmHn2nb9YM 10) Time Stood Still * audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKpu25obMqY 11) Was It Just The Wine ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Acoz5e0C76o 3's - 1 2's - 8 1's - 2 Grade - 1.9 allmusic - 2.4 What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 24-11-2012 never ever heard of Vern...will certainly investigate further What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 27-11-2012 from my library (vinyl) A little tex-mex here with Johnny's debut album. His only #1 country album, driven there with the hit single of the leadoff track here, You Always Come Back, also a #1. That was co-written with former boss Tom T. Hall. Johnny was a member of Tom's band, and Tom gets credit for Johnny's success. Johnny was playing the local Texas clubs when Tom T. and Bobby Bare heard him, and invited him to Nashville. After playing in Tom's band for a spell, he was taken down to Mercury records by Mr. Hall himself, where he was subsequently signed to his own deal. This album was the result. Several other tracks here co-written with Tom. Four tracks I love on here. My only complaint was the three songs where he sings a verse in mexican. I don't speak mexican, so I don't know what he was saying to me. After the third song of doing this, I decided I didn't like it. The only song that gets a do not like grade. I LIKE THIS ALBUM Worst Track - Jealous Heart Best Track - Answer To Your Letter 1) You Always Come Back (To Hurting Me) *** 2) I Wonder Where You Are Tonight ** - there's those mexican words live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcIoNLMByLE 3) One More Chance To Be With You ** 4) Jealous Darlin ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8F9ApmnVM4 5) Easy Come Easy Go *** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kq5tb41wlfs 6) Answer To Your Letter *** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNAlCeL26cE 7) Pass Me By (If You're Only Passing Through) *** live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBxAaaJodpk 8) Jealous Heart * - maybe if you hadn't started the mexican at the beginning audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fnVmVLHmS0w 9) We Had A Good Time Trying ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uhfoq0iQn-E 10) You Go Around ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9C5i3K0so7U 11) Leavin' Somethin' Left To Do ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9iH6ohSCvvI 3's - 4 2's - 6 1's - 1 Grade - 2.3 allmusic - 2.7 What Are You Listening To? - GPoplopavich - 01-12-2012 mia - world town What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 01-12-2012 from my library (cd) ![]() I have another best of George set that consists of 12 tracks, a mere glance of the mans output. I needed more. This one is 40 tracks. Thought I would have had enough George after 40 tracks. I coulda done 40 more. I'm not tired, or proud. By far my favorite country artist. Was thinking while listening to this how similar George's career path was to JC's. Both reached stardom early in their careers, only to let it go to their heads, and jump into the whole alcohol/drugs pit. They both came to their senses, George a bit later than Johnny. What brought them both around was a good woman. Just food for thought. Having a recnt divorce in the family, a lot of these songs are tough for me. George was a master of the cryin in my beer because my woman left me again songs. Nobody does it better. And I still can't get through He Stopped Loving Her Today. Not posting links on this one, just too many. I LOVE THIS ALBUM Worst Track - Nothing Ever Hurt Me Best Track - He Stopped Loving Her Today 1. No Money In This Deal 2. I'm Ragged But I'm Right 3.
