Let's start the machine that begins the war that will impact the adventure, which I'm sure will be a distraction from the gift I have to give. Fiona Apple - Extraordinary Machine - 2005 - *

Third album. Probably my least favorite of the three. No telling how long it sat on the shelf, but 3 years in the making. Reached #7 on Billboard charts but did not sell as well as the first 2. Love the title track, but the rest, not so much.

I found it a little hard to classify this debut album from English band formed in 2007, which I usually do unless it's just obvious. Got a contract after winning the best new band at the NME awards. Hit single Dominos is climbing the British charts with Velvet set to follow.

Arcade Fire - Neon Bible - 2007 - ***

Second full length album + 1 ep, and it keeps getting better for me. Debuting at #2 on Billboardin the U.S. and #1 in Canada. Just hope they don't peak too fast. Mostly recorded in a former church that the band purchased with profits from Funeral. The album received numerous album of the year awards, which is probably one of those hard to surpass moments.

When I attempt to interpret this neon bible, I sometimes need divine intervention in the way of a black wave with vibrations, sort of an ocean of noise so I don't get those antichrist television blues and feel like my body is a cage. Meanwhile if you head over to the black mirror that is next to the windowsill, I will keep the car running and meet you at the well and the lighthouse where no cars go.
