What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 20-03-2012 SteveO Wrote:My daughter saw Prince here two months ago and he blew the roof off !!!!..quite the live show I gather !!!! good for her! i wish i'd have had the opportunity to have seen Prince live, but it was sadly not to be... he is a great entertainer on the stage from what i have seen on vhs/dvd over the years What Are You Listening To? - hatchetman - 23-03-2012 Lana Del Rey, "Diet Mountain Dew" What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 26-03-2012 from my library (vinyl) Pop perfection. The duos fifth and their finale. One of the few groups that I can safely say I love every album they released. The title track here has to be one of the greatest pop songs ever written. The entire album comes close to the best. How can you make an album this superb and then just call it quits? On to decent careers as solo acts, but nothing could equal those five albums. Seven of the eleven tracks get my top rating. Reaching #1 and a grammy for Album Of The Year, along with Song Of The Year and Record Of The Year for the title track. Other singles followed, The Boxer at #7, Cecilia #4, and El Condor Pasa #18. As much as I love the title song, The Boxer takes my favorite. Lyrics win that battle. Paul was the meat of the pair, but I have always thought Art had the better voice. I LOVE THIS ALBUM Worst Track - Song For The Asking Best Track - The Boxer I am just a poor boy Though my story's seldom told I have squandered my resistance For a pocket full of mumbles such are promises All lies and jests Still a man hears what he wants to hear And disregards the rest When I left my home and my family I was no more than a boy In the company of strangers In the quiet of the railway station running scared Laying low, seeking out the poorer quarters Where the ragged people go Looking for the places only they would know Lie la lie ... Asking only workman's wages I come looking for a job But I get no offers, Just a come-on from the whores on Seventh Avenue I do declare, there were times when I was so lonesome I took some comfort there Lie la lie ... Then I'm laying out my winter clothes And wishing I was gone Going home Where the New York City winters aren't bleeding me Bleeding me, going home In the clearing stands a boxer And a fighter by his trade And he carries the reminders Of ev'ry glove that layed him down Or cut him till he cried out In his anger and his shame "I am leaving, I am leaving" But the fighter still remains Lie la lie ... 1) Bridge Over Troubled Water *** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-XCmb6t6Zw 2) El Condor Pasa (If I Could) *** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BCLb21Y7Z8 3) Cecilia *** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5_QV97eYqM 4) Keep The Customer Satisfied *** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3YNsZLtzF18 5) So Long, Frank Lloyd Wright ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cf0RrF6KsI8 6) The Boxer *** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wzUEL7vw60U 7) Baby Driver ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eeqUUNHwAl8 8) The Only Living Boy In New York *** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJGSHMgbB0E 9) Why Don't You Write Me *** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPthjsBCk0o 10) Bye Bye Love ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0gLnfSgdLA 11) Song For The Asking ** 3's - 7 2's - 4 1's - 0 Grade - 2.6 so many albums, so little time What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 26-03-2012 before i looked at your best track i was thinking..hope he's picked something other than Bridge Over Trouble Water, even though its a great song i do prefer Cecilia and your pick The Boxer.. great album MH. What Are You Listening To? - SteveO - 27-03-2012 Great choice, MH ! Also agree with CH with respect to The Boxer...absolute favorite !...gees can't believe they split in 1970 !...just like the Beatles. What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 04-04-2012 ![]() PAJAMA CLUB "pajama club" 2011. not really a Neil Finn solo set, moreso a collaboration between him, his wife Sharon and his nextdoor neighbours... the album was primarily bourne out of a few jam sessions in his home studio after dinner, a few glasses of wine and a joint or two thrown in for good measure... there are some good Crowded House sounding tracks on this on in tracks 2,5,6,8 and 9...the others simply sound like they were recorded, jams with simple, stupid lyrics that never got finished properly. sure there are some nice boppy, poppy, catchy beats happening here and some interesting sounds that you would not associate with Neil Finn, but overall it does sound a little too much like it was intended to sound...a loose collection of bits and pieces, thus it sounds messy with little thought gone into the final process. not really a good album, and certainly no great Finn songs on this one, in fact this one comes out as probably the worst album of his career! I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM worst track: cant put it down until it ends best track: daylight tracks: 1. tell me what you want * http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZ34SrL1aaM live 2. cant put it down until it ends * http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4G2b...eature=related live 3. there are conditions ** 4. from a friend to a friend ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCd6f...feature=relmfu live 5. golden child ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fH0Se...feature=relmfu live 6. daylight ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-ClK...feature=relmfu live 7. go kart * 8. dead leg ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4M9BLVhEkE live 9. I LIKE THIS ALBUM worst track: cant be found best track: keep talking tracks: 1. the everyday ** 2. the view is worth the climb ** 3. going going gone ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNVv5LjnZac live 4. wild sweet action ** 5. everybodys wrong ** 6. cant be found * 7. opposite sign * 8. all this and more ** 9. people like us ** 10.certain way ** 11.keep talking ** 3s=0 2s=9 1s=2 rating: 1.8 What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 04-04-2012 wish I could express my opinions as well as you do What Are You Listening To? - SteveO - 04-04-2012 Yup...gotta love that Crazy Horse !!!!
