Bassist for UK ska band Madness, whose music was given the name "the nutty sound" by the UK music press
Madness had some thirty top 30 hits in the UK including a couple of #1 hits....
they were known for their satirical videos as much as their cheeky songs,
they recorded a fantastic version of Labi Siffre's "it must be love" in the early 1980s...here's that song linked below:

Born on this day in 1950, in Stamford, Connecticut â William Paul Borsey Jr, otherwise known as Willy DeVille. He died in 2009, of pancreatic cancer. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Willy_DeVille
Fascinating character, and musician; he had a helluva voice and great song-writing ability. He drew on influences that were many and varied, and in turn, he influenced a couple of people himself â not least of which being â you guessed it â Mark Knopfler. LOL!
When his band, Mink DeVillie split up, Mr K collaborated with Willy on his 1987 debut solo album, Miracle (contributing guitar on every track as well as production), which happened to include a song called âStorybook Loveâ. Knopfler was working on the soundtrack to The Princess Bride at the time and he asked DeVille whether he might submit it; lo and behold, it got nominated for an Academy Award (lost out to Dirty Dancing).

1938 Jet Black (Brian John Duffy),
one of the founding members of The Stranglers, and who is now one of the oldest working rock drummers. Before forming The Stranglers, Black was a successful businessman up until the mid-1970s, owning a fleet of ice cream vans.
I never knew who he was, but any excuse to play The Stranglers is good enough for me!
